BladesGrant
I have started the project of fitting a V3 kit to my roadster. Thought I would start an update thread to keep track of my progress. Firstly before any pictures, massive thanks go out to CS for all his help on everything to do with my Zed (advice, products just a chat). Also massive thanks to Nurrish and IanS16 for the help with logistics and fitting. So here is the start of the pictures and the scariest part Here is Ian with his new best friend.................a dremel drill!! Here is the end result, some of them have been taken with the front end half under the garage so its darker. The colour match is very good though. Hope you like and will keep you posted on rear bumper and side skirts. Thanks
MITZ@CougarStore
Grant, that looks great, it’s good to see a Veilside Roadster taking form...
dcash5
Spray job looks really good, like how you have filled in the badge recess. Only thing that concerns me is the panel gaps particularly in this picture The bonnet line at the front isn't uniform and where the wing meets the bumper it seems to get wider as you get further away, might just need refitting but its the little touches that make all the difference
R35LEE
haha Dan.... shouldn't you be polishing? BladesGrant the car looks good mate! Love the pic of you holding your breath with the dremmel in hand cutting the bumper
BladesGrant
Thats Ian cutting the bumper which is why he probably holding his breath!!! Not sure I understand the comment about the wing Dan. I personally thought the panel gaps were pretty good and not far off my OEM ones. dcash5
Just on the brackets where the OEM bumper fits there are some raised parts where the OEM bumper holes fit onto. Kinda hard to explain. On the passengers side the panels look equal but on the drivers its almost touching the wing near the headlight and has a decent panel gap toward the furthest edge of the bumper. May just not be seated correctly or might just need the allignment holes enlarging slightly. From a distance you probably wouldnt notice
BladesGrant
So its too close to the wing, rather than too far away. Sure that can be sorted easily enough. Thanks.
Woody
Very nice bud, looking forward to the rest of it

rtbiscuit
well done boys, good work. i'm going to let the bodyshop do mine now. was going to do the sides, rear spats and headlights, but have decided i don't have the time at the weekend and i just want it done, so i'm going to get them to do the whole lot. Good choice, if I would have known how long and how much work it was I would have done the same. It was a good day and a good laugh but I am not changing my day job just yet!!!!! Andy
Yeah good choice rich.... Needs to be said that the kit is faaaaaaaaaaaaaar from being just a bolt on replacement. What have you had to do? Looking forward to the finished pics! Haven't seen a full V3 kit on a roadster in the UK yet
rtbiscuit
the only adjustments my shop were originally doing was to cut and fit the washer jets for the bumper, i had planned the skirts and rear spats to be a straight forward fit, CS had told me the skirts need no alteration to fit. but i just don't have the time and al least if they only need a slight tweek then they can do it. i've fitted kits before and its not to bad. plus i know its a copy so i'm not expecting seamless perfect. but just a good finish. i'll post up once its all on. but i think the first pics will be modified live, if all goes to plan
BladesGrant
We had to drill all of the pilot holes (which should have been done before paint but didn't do a test fit first due to circumstance!!). It was a royal pain as it had been painted to had to be very careful. Had to improvise on a couple of parts but nothing a bodyshop wouldn't have done I don't think. nurrish
Lets just say that we used a dremal, a drill and a angle grinder I will leave it to grant though
BladesGrant
Looking back I think the angle grinder was a mistake. the molds come with indents where the holes need to be drilled for fitting. As it hadn't been test fitted before paint all the pilot holes still needed to be drilled. I would imagine that front a genuine kit these would already be done before purchase. if I was to do it all again, I would have had the kit test fitted by a bodyshop, sprayed and then fit by a bodyshop. Just wanted to have a go myself and see what it was like. Really happy with the results so far and I am sure I will be happy with the end result. I am not after perfection either as Biscuit has said but a kit that sits well on the car, so far so good with the front, next is the rear and the sides. Looking forward to seeing Biscuits car as well.
IanS16
Just caught up with this post. Had a right good laugh to be fair Gaffa tape to the rescue
BladesGrant
Yeah thanks for that Ian, I wondered what the fook was going on. Need to sort the undertry out this weekend so its not being held on with tape!!!!!!!! Although by looking at the OEM bumper some tape of some sort underneath would be good to stop the scrapes as long as you can't see it from the front!!! GT4 Zed
Nice one lads, sorry i only did not stay very long to help but moreso i could see you guys were copping just fine Good job so far and it will look the doggs danglies once it is all completed. i think you should have test fitted everything first and correcting all the little faults as to be expected because you would have to do so in the end to be really satisfied. Looking forwards to seeing the finished car soon Just in passing: my trip to Coventry was very sucessful and i had a reasonable assessment of the Utec piggyback in action. i will be there up again to test it on my car after which the deal should be sealed
BladesGrant
At last I have got my roadster back with the kit fitted. Its take a little longer than expected but this is due to unforeseen circumstances. Firstly massive massive thanks go to CS and Andy. Andy has worked his butt off on this car and I personally think its amazing. He does want it back as he isn't happy with a couple of things but I am not going to point them out and due to him being a perfectionist these are very little things. CS has been a legend as usual and has put up with me calling him more than his mrs and probably giving him more of a headache then she ever could!!!! So onto pictures, I have only been able to take the 1 so far as its been dark before and after work, so i will be taking some more on Saturday when I am round at Nurrish's pad. Just thought I would put this one up as a starter before the weekend.
