shire350Z
Well after a great day at zedfest i was on my way home and out of the blue i had a sudden loss of power for literally a split second then the car was fine but it was as if someone had just hit the brakes hard!! Got home turned the car off, got back in it 15minutes later and it didnt turn over straight away like they normally do, needed abit longer holding the key on then fired but sounded like it was struglling then the revs were a little eratic for a moment then fine but the engine management light, ESP light and the light which highlights when your loosing traction all stayed and wouldnt go off!! Tried this a few times and exactly the same happened so its sat on the drive and im in the van Just hope its nothing to serious thought it could have been a fuel pump problem as it sounded as if it was struglling for fuel but then i wonder why all the 3 lights stay on ??!! so after a great day gutted iv got problems with the car especially with next saturdays meet to!!! anyone had anything simliar before
rtbiscuit
try an ECU reset, or if the CEL is on read the code, and post it up. then so the reset.
narcotix
I'm having the exact same problem. I was driving it around fine last night and then this morning it wasn't turning over straight away ... It takes some time and effort before it finally gets going ... I've never had any problems with it starting up in the past ... I also have the CEL, ESP Off and Skid warning lights on ... I tried an Ecu reset which cleared the lights but it still takes ages to start up and then the lights return ...

martinmac
Thats worrying James. The ecu reset is worth a try but I would personally opt for getting the fault codes first just in case.

3FIDDYZ
Here is a quick way to reset your ECU. It is also known to clear codes thrown, and turn off the "Service Engine Soon" Light. It's a little tricky, but works. 1.Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON†and wait 3 seconds. 2.Repeat the following two procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds: 1.Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD). 2.Fully release the accelerator pedal. 3.Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking. 4.Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking) 5.Wait about 10 seconds. 6.Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds. 7.Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink). 8.Turn ignition switch to “OFF†position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.
3FIDDYZ
And if you need the others... Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning Operation Procedure 1. Make sure that the accelerator pedal is fully released. 2. Turn ignition switch “ON†and wait at least 2 seconds. 3. Turn ignition switch “OFF†wait at least 10 seconds. 4. Turn ignition switch “ON†and wait at least 2 seconds. 5. Turn ignition switch “OFF†wait at least 10 seconds. Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning Operation Procedures 1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released. 2. Turn ignition switch is “ONâ€. 3. Turn ignition switch is “OFF†wait at least 10 seconds. Make sure that the throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound. Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning) It is better to count the time accurately with a clock. Operation Procedures 1. Perform “Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learningâ€. 2. Perform “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learningâ€. 3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature. 4. Turn ignition switch “OFF†and wait at least 10 seconds. 5. Conform that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON†and wait 3 seconds. 6. Repeat the following (steps 7a, 7b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds. 7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD) 7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal. 8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the Check Engine Light (CEL) stops blinking and turned ON. 9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the CEL is ON. 10. Start engine and let it idle. 11. Wait 20 seconds. 12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.

Chris`I
Shire, Can you let me know how you get on .... I'm trying to find someone close with a diagnostic tool but have had no luck so far .... Any decent garage should have a diagnostic tool that supports these basic OBD queries, its not a Nissan specific thing (yet)
shire350Z
Some already have them dont they chris Well have you checked the coolant buddy after checking mine and topping it up the lights went off and the car fired up ok but that was this morning so ill try it again later if its fine fingers crossed ill just do the ecu reset and see how that goes
Chris`I
Some already have them dont they chris Indeed they do Although mine doesnt appear to work with imports or Nismo ECUs we've found!
narcotix
I've not been able to check the coolant today as I've been at work ... but will have a look tonight when I get home ... The lights are a bit misleading because if I leave the car for a few hours the lights goes off ... it's only from having to crank it for ages that the lights re-appear ... I will call a few garages this afternoon also to see if they've got the necessary equipment to read the error codes etc... Thanks for the help ... I'll keep you updated ..
