JimmyJam75
OK, so I'm having to wait till the middle of August for my Z now.. but in the meantime, can anyone give me some advice on Insurance? I got a few quotes last month that came in just under £600 (Sainsburys Bank). I'm 31, am going to put my good lady wife on the insurance too.. it's on a drive etc.. but I'm keen to see what you guys think about the various insurance companies. I guess most will offer a standard fit replacement policy on any damage etc.. but I'm getting the GT pack and so I'm assuming I would need to make this clear to the insurer? I've read a few threads about levels of service etc from insurance companies and (never having made a claim) I'm concerned about just going for the cheapest quote? How about moving away from 'high street' insurers and finding a sports car specialist? Any handy tips / advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Jim
M13KYF
The insurance company should ask you whether its a GT or not and also ask you what is its value. Would of thought you would have everthing covered then.
350Znismo
I am with Churchill good quote at £477 (42YRS) protected.
AndyC
I'm with Adrian Flux mate, quality policy (can't just remember who its actually with but I think its Zurich off the top of my head) and cracking customer service. Plus theres now a forum discount which appeared after I'd taken mine out this year
bernmc
I tried sky, Adrian Flux and Lifesure. (350Z GT with Nismo alloys and body kit). Sky couldn't get below £600, AF did better at around £540, and lifesure beat them all with £518. £350 XS protected no claims. Would have been around £400 without the alloys and kit. Probably helped that the Legnum is also insured through them, and both my wife and I have 6 years NCB. Get a quote from a couple of companies, and then get them to price match or beat. Everything is negotiable, including like-for-like mods replacement, the excess etc - you just have to have the cahoonies to ask!
JimmyJam75
Nice one - thanks guys.
Kuro
I am with Churchill good quote at £477 (42YRS) protected. Wow - now that's some No Claims Discount there I found elephant to be good at £630ish, pretty much the cheapest I could get with ncb protection, low excess etc. Check the 'voluntary' and 'complusory' excess figures, as I nearly got caught with this one... Jacko
Is he on about age or how many years ncd? Definitely age mate After about 5 or 6 years NCB, then they don't take much account of it anyway (generally)...... You can only get to a maximum of about 70% discount from having NCB.... Rob_Quads
Try admiral - they seem to look kindly on the 350z (as well as the Supra) 27yr / 6yr NCB in an OK area £415 (with mum on which brings it down another £100 )

Jacko
You boys must all live in MUCH better postcode areas than me!! Dunno mate, I get screwed cos I live in an OL postcode. Thats with over 12 years no accidents, max NCB...... Way more expensive than it should be..... Just one thing to be aware of for you all as well. If they ask you if its garaged, don't immediately assume that it will get you a lot off the premium. I have a garage and on one of the main companies, asked much difference it was. Basically it totalled to a massive £15 difference a year between garaged and just on my drive...... More disconcerting was, that if I'd have taken the garage route and then the car was nicked, there was a chance that they would have said it was negligence that caused it and not paid out.... whereas if I said, just on drive then it was fine...... I mean, whats the point?

Mine is in a garage though so better to keep it that way cos I aint got a drive!!
