Tricky-Ricky Posted September 8, 2009 Share Posted September 8, 2009 Thought i would put this here as it seems a logical place to ask, i am selling my spoilt rotten MKIV single turbo Supra (500BHP) for which i'm asking realistic 14.5K http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1233885.htm But i would like to replace it with a 350Z, so i am looking for an import preferably on the lower tax bracket, and preferably modded, and priced around 10K but will consider an 11K limit with cash my way for the right car. An r34 gti-r skyline would tempt a few though. You obviously know very little about Supras then, this time last year i could have asked 18K for this and got it. Was just saying that in my opinion as nice as the supras are, I don't think it's the path a 350z driver will take as a next car if they are upgrading! It would be an upgrade on power if someone px'd but it would be going back a bit in terms of up to date cars if you get my drift, they are an old car now sadly. The zed is not really a quick car, and i dont really think it tries to be. The zed is hot car to look at currently though, probably as the supra once was back in the 90's. The zed turns everyone's heads now, whereas i feel like the supra would just turn the heads of blokes in their 30's, IMHO of course ...and coming on here and keep telling everyone that Supra's are better than zeds will not get you very far at all Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I guess its all a matter of opinions, i have driven a few evos and in comparison with the supra i just don't like them, and thats including the twisty bits experience, at which everybody rates them but give me the Supra any day, and i was just trying to equate imprexa99 comments on relative values, considering he knows Supras and while i can see the styling/age thing, i can't quite get to grips with saying an R34GTR is very much newer or better, don't get me wrong they are nice, but in the same way the Impretsa WRX is, IE its an instant hero car very easy to drive fast and look good doing it, but with very little driver feel, just like the evo IMO of corse Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Also being well over my 30s i aught to know better to argue/dispute these comments as i came from a forum with very similar attitudes. Can't comment on the GTR, I know they are a cult hero car but I will be honest I do think they were designed by a guy with a ruler. I like the curves of the Zed and the Supra.... It may just be the way Im reading what he typed, so might just be me who see's it as rude. In that case, I apolgise. As most of you know, Im having to part ways with my Zed. It's been forced upon me unfortunatly, and im gunna be gutted when she goes. After spending quite a few months working out what to get if the eventuallity of losing the Zed happened, I decided to get a Supra. And I dont see this as a step backwards at all. And the only way Id see a 350 as an upgrade to one, is simply cos its more modern. I wouldnt say it was superior. Hard to compare a 15 yr old designed car to a recent one though. If you wanna compare, then do it with a 300zx. In short, Im looking forward to getting a Supra, and experianceing something with more straight line grunt and more tunable. For sure it's gunna be a different experiance from the Zed. But EVERY car should be a different experiance from the previous one you owned. Otherwise things would get boring. So in that respect, I see a Supra as a step forward for me. Not a step backwards. Just my 2p worth, I shall now line up against the wall, and await to be shot. I think he made a valid point, which was fairly put - not disrespectfully. I think if this thread were started 2 weeks ago the conversation would be a lot more opinionated, rather than the supra love in we've got here (after the ibherdesign debacle ). It seems that a few people are biting their tongues! Obviously we cant all like the same cars (apart from the zed), and supra's have never appealed to me in the slightest, partly due to the t0ssers around here that drive/drove them, and partly to do with the interior. It is imprexx99's opinion, and mine, that someone should be paying me to drive a Supra... and i'd much prefer an r34 skyline too, but that personal choice and its a free forum. I've always been the type of person to not say anything if i havent got something nice to say BUT the condescending nature of some of the OP's posts have prompted me to make my point. Ricky, no offence meant to you personally, you'll see that i've posted helpfully on your other threads, and even tried to hook you up with Lexx here, but imagine someone coming to your forum with a sierra cosworth or something and asking your members if they want an upgrade... you'd tell them to f*ck off Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
rtbiscuit Posted September 13, 2009 Share Posted September 13, 2009 in face value with all your mods i can see where your coming from, yes in monatary terms the outlay you spent maybe worth more than the Zed you looking to replace it with. but as said before i wouldn't class it as an upgrade for a car thats well over 10 years old. your right in a straight line the supra will probably win, but i've never been bothered about straight line dragging, to me its not proper driving. put both cars on the same track and see whos the fastest after 3 laps would be a more accurate measure. i like the supras, but for me it would be a step back, and a step forward would be the new NSX due out next year Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
