Went back after a year then again about 18 months later,they did do it for free though on both occasions. I have been told that if it happens again that if i wrap it in towel it will get the lights off,dont know if there is any truth in this. Quote

DontPanic Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I had the red ring, out of warranty, bought the x-clamp replacement from ebay. Now works fine. Couple of my mates have tried it and it's worked for them as well. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/XBOX-360-X-Clamp- ... 286.c0.m14 Basically it replaces the really badly designed clamps which hold the heatsinks to the processors. marzman Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I had the rrod 3 weeks ago... was an 8 day turnaround to get it fixed. Actually, MS replaced my xbox instead of fixing it. I got the xbox first, then a wii, then a ps3... but i've sold both of them and am sticking to xbox. I've read about the towel trick, but wouldnt fancy it. BTW... your xbox is over 3 years old?? When did they come out? Quote
