Shaun1982
Hi guys, shortly ill be looking to put my ice into the zed,i just wondered if anyone had removed the spare wheel, built a floor & fitted amps etc under there to keep everything clean looking & useable? Its just that the amp i have to run the Kicker L7 i have is the size of a pillow on your bed.lol.Obviously theres not many places you can manage to hide that & i kinda like the zed keeping its windows Has anyone done it? do people think its doable etc etc? Its already looking like im going to have to chop the L7 in for a 10 to run in the standard space when its been fully sealed. Figured earlier too that the brain for my head unit will go nicely under the passenger seat with no problems so thats a good point.
sunset350z
Can't see no reason why you shouldn't do it. You'd be suprised at how much extra depth there is with the spare removed. As for the brain have you thought about installing it in the little secret compartment in the glove box?
Shaun1982
I tried it under the passenger seat & itl go in fine ill just have to put a couple of slits in the carpet under there to run the wires out of sight. I think the spare wheel well will be the place for me,would need to get a fan in there to keep the amp cool though id say.Anyone had any issues or hearing of the well getting damp in colder weather etc? Shaun1982
Well a little update for you.Im having someone build me the box that was linked on here someone to go in the standard space. Not sure yet as to if ill use a 10 or a 12 but the box does seem small from its dimensions so probably a Rainbow Amboss if the volumes ok for it.Ill give another update on the box as i think it might of been getting started today
Shaun1982
Well ive just got the box & after a few minutes of fiddling & deciding which way it has to go,its in.Bit tight,i expect very tight once the sub is on it too. Question is though at only about 7 inches deep theres not many subs that will fit in it. ~Ideas anyone? lol
lamby
have a look at this http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products ... &p_status= i did have another idea but iv forgotten atm will post if i remember
Shaun1982
Not a bad find there mate, ive just found a Focal polyglass 27 v2 that will go in & the volumes about right too. Have you seen the JL 13TW5? they only use 2.5" to mount them, good power handling too but im not spending £359.99 plus p&p

Shaun1982
Cheers fellas,i dont mind paying about £250 for the sub, infact my audio shop i use said hel do me a deal against another as the L7 i got a few months ago was from him you see, that cost me £200 with a bit of discount.Just a bit gutting really as i like my bass & i know whatever i end up with wont come close to the L7
H5
Try a JL W6v2 or a W7 if you can stretch to it...
sunset350z
Try a JL W6v2 or a W7 if you can stretch to it... The 12" wont fit but the 10" just comes in under 7 inches deep so it may go. The box needs to be more than a cubic foot as well> http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=
sunset350z
The 8" W7 will go in your box i reckon.> http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=1 It gives you recommended box dimensions as well, so you could alter the box internally to get the right volume
lamby
rockford are good for all out bass if thats what your after i prefer a bit more towards the sound quality end of the market but still with good bass if its bass your after try some Ground Zero stuff here: http://www.ground-zero-audio.com/englis ... woofer.htm
Shaun1982
I do like my bass BUT i do like it to be of a decent quality too.I might go drag the box out the car & get a photo up,i know theres not much room above the box when putting it in. Ideally i need something that works in 0.65 cubic feet, thats before a sub too.Ill pop out & take a pic
Shaun1982
Just taken some pictures but photobucket keeps closing my internet & for some reason my photos wont display so ill have to send them again.Ill sort it. Sorted Right heres a one fitted in the car & one of the box, also one to give a comparisson of just how small it is next to the L7
lamby
aha i see now. well the rockford fosgate in my first post could work but its min space is 0.70 cu. ft it is a very small space how many you putting in?? are you putting them where the cubby's are?? what amp will you be running out of idle curiosity??
Shaun1982
Ill only be putting the one in,at least for now as i was planning on using the glovebox to house the amp & hopefully the cap too.Amp wise im not entirely sure again as the whole system will be new stuff bar the headunit unless i decide to sell that.I have been looking at 3 channel amps like the audison srx3 or there was an alpine in my audio shop that he said would do the trick. All depends on what sub i end up with, also what components upfront i go for so i know what power amp ill need.My current amp(Audiobahn A2200HCT capable of 1600rms) is a little overkill now & i only want to run one amp really
