keithvmx1200
I had a bitter like burnt coffee smell when I put my foot down hard but had floppy clutch pedal to go with it but then would go back to normal. Regards Keith
jimboy2
I have this exact same issue. Doesn't leak any fluid so not really worried any more. Only happens when I give it a little welly
DarmoZ
I used to get the distinct clutch smell (it would linger even after the car has pulled up and you could smell it when you step out) then one day the clutch went and it got replaced. However the smell under hard acceleration past 4k rpm still remained. It's a different type of smell to the clutch one i had before (clutch smell is much more potent) Like others it's only really noticeable with windows down, and goes away after a few seconds of letting off the pedal. Since i can disregard the clutch being new, i put it down to cat's / exhaust like others have. Edit: I also disregard belts because they have been changed recently too. Rippo350z
I also second this opinion of Exhaust/Cat buildup. I have experienced this during warm conditions and booting it. I now have a new full cobra exhaust system with cobra CATS and an uprev and haven't had this issue since but i expect it to come back one day. I believe it to be a build up from inner city driving (my Work commute is 6 miles tops) then opening her up. Since I've had the upgrades though she gets opened up all the time (OMG the sound). either that or my clutch will go at some point, either way don't worry
ThreeFiddyZ
I get this with mine when I drive in a spirited manner, the exhaust gets hot and smells and the sides of the transmission tunnel inside the car get hot, I've put mine down to the cats or exhaust parts. Rock_Steady
Bit of a long shot but, if you have leak down the side of the head or block then run the car till its super hot it'll make a smell in the cabin. Or if you have spilt oil whilst putting it in, that'll make a smell when hot too.

Jay Kay
Mine did the same. Usually didn't drive very fast but on the odd occasion I booted it I could sometime smell a faint smell, almost chemical like. mine was an HR with 18k miles on the clock. MIGWEL
Mine does it too. HR model with 13'000 miles No smell at normal driving but when giving it a bit of a heavy foot then the smell appears. Not a clutch smell but a burnt chemical sort of odour then it soon clears

Willsy1980
I remember reading somewhere the rocker covers could be the cause when the gaskets are on the way out ?
Rook
It's the cats burning of crap, most performance cars do it, you just can't usually smell it. If you find it smells a bit musty or chemical-like as some put it - even if the car's already warm - the first time you absolute bury it for a sustained period, but each time you do it after that it's less or gone, it's almost certainly that and nothing to worry about.
