Suspension/bushes woes...Please Help!!

All, im tearing my hair out now with this problem :bang:

I have a 2003 JDM zed, 50k miles, I had fitted Tein lowering springs a few weeks back, a few days later i get a knocking noise from the n/s/f  ...it went in to have the allignment and balancing done a few days later and they said i needed to replace the top mounts as they had play in them.

So i done this last week and all was great for a day or 2, car drives much better...infact better than it had for over a year or so, so i guess the old top mounts had been on there way out for some time.

Anyway, last couple of days the knocking noise re-appears.

My mechanic that fitted the springs and top mounts did mention that the lower ball joint has split/worn on the n/s/f too and tols that it could be pressed into one of the lower arms. But from using the search button i understand that the ARB's can cause a similar problem...right?

Also, the steering wheel now sits slightly to the left when driving down a straight road....last couple of days....please help!

Hi mate sorry to hear that your knock is back, but you really have to get it professionally diagnosed.

The bottom ball joint on the front suspension is part of the compression arm and is not available separately as an oem replacement.

The ARB links are available either as stock or adjustable.

Guessing which part is giving you grief is extremely expensive.

I have most of the suspension arms and ball joints available as preowned.

I also have available new stock ARB links and new adjustable links, the latter should be fitted when you have a lowered suspension set up.

Best to get an expert to check your suspension over mate and get an informed diagnoses.

I have about a 25 full sets of these available with next day delivery, so no problem with supply.

Thanks Alex, will get the car on a ramp again and take another look.

So if its the lower ball joint, i have to get new (banana shaped) arms to keep it OEM or buy uprated bushes to fit into the existing arms right?

How much for the complete arm alex, single or pair?

Charlie,

If it is the lower arm that you are referring to mate, (compression rod is the correct term or as we call it the banana arm) and you find the ball joint is worn and to keep it oem you have got to replace the complete arm.

There are after market ball joints available but they are more designed to bring your geometry back in to line and to sort bump steer issues.

The arms from Nissan are around £300.00. each.

I sell them preowned at £100.00 each.

There are other ball joints on the front suspension that could give you knocks and also best to check the top arm (wishbone) to make sure the balljoint nut is really tight.

Get it checked out properly before you splash any more cash mate.

Alex.
