Mark-UK
My present insurers wont insure the car when my rear lip spoiler is on next week, plus wont insure the car as I have replaced the badges with Z badges lol, so does anyone know any specialist companies for zeds that insure them with modifications? Thanks
BulletMagnet
There are some insurance guys right here that do insurance for Zeds, incl. mods with a "Like for Like" scheme. viewtopic.php?f=63&t=16304
Ekona
Take the badges off and wait until your insurance is up before moving though, else you'll waste the year's NCB you're on. Bear in mind that you're also uninsured whilst those badges are on, so best take them off anyway until this is sorted. Which company are we talking about btw? Mark-UK
Sorry no I mean my present insurers can insure with badges and spoiler but want an extra £300 making my insurance £1500 a year, im 34 with 6 years no claims. When i took out insurance with them (kwik fit) they said spoiler would be about £30 more not £300 so im leaving.
Rocky
That sounds expensive in the 1st palce!?! have you got any other mods? i'm 31, FNC (most companies only count the 1st 5 years anyway), 6 points for speeding, no mods, and it's a roadster (more expensive to insure) - and i'm paying £530. Give Chris Knott Insurance a call - a lot of the guys on here seem to be with them.
Mark-UK
No its a standard 07 roadster 313. I have 1 sp30 for speeding 4 years ago thats it. I do low miles a si work from home. I used confused.com to get my quotes. Ive had 2 claims in the past due to other drivers hitting me and a theft of a fiesta but never had an accident caused by myself (touch wood). Rocky
I'm pretty new to the forum, so others on here may be able to help more than i can. Saying that, i've had performance cars for a number of years (Civic Type-R and a Scooby) and it pays to shop around. I don't ever bother with websites like confused.com anymore as they can never get anywhere close to what i actually pay for insurance. I still get quotes of over £3500!!! (um, no thanks, i'd rather pay my £530) Always found Direct Line and Admiral good in the past. Kwik Fit have always been rubbish for me price wise
givememorepower
UNmodified go with Direct Line. Modified - Adrian Flux every time. I've had 14 cars so far and spend at least a week every year getting quotes. Always end up using the above two companies. ( I have lots and lots of points ). I'm 35 and have declared my mods (CF Bonnet, CF lip and wheels) and pay £600 fully comp, if I recall correctly I have 6 or 7 years NCB (protected) and more points than you. Mine is a '04 UK Coupe tho, so that prolly plays a factor.

Ekona
I'm assuming that the OP went with Kwik Fit as they were miles cheaper for him in the first place, but I'd be interested to know who else he got a quote off of? Btw that £300 they're asking sounds very much like a standard modded car loader, in that they charge you a great big sum (like most non-specialist insurers) because you want to mod but then only charge you an admin fee every time you change something else. Got 3points and pay £550 ish Just a hint, when getting quotes try adding someone older to the policy, like a parent, it brough mine down a huge amount for putting my mother on it, she has never driven any of my last 3 cars (and never will) but she has saved me a fortune

Mark-UK
Sky could only insure if i kept it in my compound lol, so there a no go, no point buying insurance that means I cant park outside my house lol. Adrian Flux £765, get in there!!
skyinsurance
Hi Mark, thanks for trying us. Unfortunately we have a restriction on your postcode which means the car must be kept off the public road over night. Give us a try next year, criteria changes on a regular basis. Thanks Ollie Sky Insurance

Mark-UK
Just tried Chris Knott and said they could not insure me as not had car for a year or so and they want experience in driving high powered cars lol. Bit pathetic really.

Bit pathetic really. Not considering that the insurers have paid out huge amounts on people who have just bought performance cars and can't handle them causing them to claim. Hence the reason for this prerequisite. (It is mentioned in the introductory post).viewtopic.php?f=63&t=15584
sunset350z
So after a year you are less likely to crash? It took me a year and ten days to crash mine bugger.

R800NER
It's a bit silly that you are still treated as a statistic. I am 21 with 3 years NCB with a 300BHP rear wheel drive car and pay £1200 ish with mods declared and includes Driving other cars and mod cover/windscreen etc with Bell. I have driven many fast cars round tracks and consider myself a good driver, yet my age makes me statistically un-insurable to most companies. I find this frustrating, as you don't see premium's get higher when you become old and frail and cause more accidents? Statistics and ageism sucks, but that's just life For an example of under-estimating us youngens, my teacher used to be a right **** and put me down as just a kid who wasn't able to do anything, but then I showed him up by winning a Dragons Den live pitch at the age of 17. The other contenders who were all graduates failed to receive funding. Just shows you that age is just a number, but it's how old you are in your head! Story time over
PAK999
Hi Tim, I called Chris Knott last November to renew my insurance on a 2002 JDM coupe and you would not even give me a quote, my postcode is OL10, so I went with direct line. I have a clean licence, three years NCB and the car is standard.
