jim
Hi all, I'm considering getting a laptop for my wife - she's just about to retire and will no longer have a work laptop. She mainly needs it to surf the web (because I hog the iMac all the time) and read documents sometimes. It has to be wireless and fast, but the main consideration is that it has to be reliable yet affordable. I would like an iBook, but they are far too expensive. We thought about a netbook, but the screen is too small - we want something a bit bigger than that, so long as it is not too heavy. Any suggestions from the experts for something around the £300 - £400 mark would be most welcome.
Greekman
buy a used one. no need for a new one. Computers unlike cars either work or not. once formatted and reloaded it will be as good as new... and for £300 it will be a fast one as well.....acers are cheap...and hps... M350ZB
One thing i would recomend are these deals where you get a laptop and a dongle, i got one threw 3 mobile, laptop and dongle ages ago, and has worked a treat all for £35 a month , now there even cheaper and better deals and laptops
nixy
I got an acer aspire 5735 and so far very pleased with it, its quick, good enough for watching iplayer programmes etc and far better performance than my desk top. Was under £400 - have a look in Tesco, they sell them in there and you'll get your points as well if you have a club card. I've only had it a few months so can't comment on its longevity. That seems like a good deal, but I am tempted by the idea of a second hand one - must investigate further. Thanks everyone for the replies.
