quicksilver
I'm off to japfest at the pod at the weekend and was gonna drag my roadster down the strip. Before I embarrass myself I wondered what kind of times I should expect from a standard car??
Jon350z
Most of drag racing is down to driver. When I used to go my celica GT4, I'd get 1 run at 11.9 then the next at 13.2 If I were to hazard a guess I'd say in the 15's somewhere.
quicksilver
When I used to go my celica GT4, I'd get 1 run at 11.9 then the next at 13.2 Christ dude what power where you running in the GT4, I've had two fairly standard ones and only managed 13.9's
Jon350z
Running 1.6 bar on a forged engine, cams etc so about 380hp at the fly
M350ZB
expect to be in the 14's. If you get below 14 you have done really well. +1, its all about getting the power down, most people i know who have taken there zed there, leave the T/C off
quicksilver
After owning 2 GT4's and still being in ownership of one, thats what guts me about the 350z, you'd think a 3.5L car with 280bhp standard would have more guts/performance, although in fairness I bought mine for the looks and wow factor. I feel a turbo conversion coming on soon to give the Z the power it's looks deserve I'm kinda hoping for 14 anything down the strip from the Z but heh at least I'll look cool going slow if not
quicksilver
+1, its all about getting the power down, most people i know who have taken there zed there, leave the T/C off But the traction control just bogs you down, it would be good just to get you off the line for a few secs but then would loose you power/time on the go. As sticky and dry as the pod strip looks it can be very hard to get the power down on the start area possibly due to the watered down burnout area. ALT
14.6 was my best time. TC off worked best for me. I could do with going back and having another go, because with a bit of practice I'm sure I could get a lot more out of the first 60 ft. fatalus
Does the clutch get a major beating with all those 0-400m? I was on the edge of participitating in such races but was little afraid of my clutch getting a serious beating...
Ekona
It'll get raped, along with your entire drivetrain. No harm in doing it every so often, but it's not something I'd ever make a habit out of.
