Chesterfield
Quick question on oil pressure. For the first five minutes of driving, the oil pressure seems very high. i.e. if I put my foot down and get it to 4k rpm within say the first 10 mins, the oil pressure can often reach all the way over to the right (120). After 5/10 minutes or so when the car is warmed up, then it only ever goes to about 80, even when giving it beans. Is this normal? As a rule, I tend to stick to not giving it large until the car is well warmed through.

Pressure drops once she's warmed up,,, totally normal
Removed
confirm PS not good practice "giving it large" when engine oil is cold and pressure gets very high
steve_b
The oil pressure and its reduction rate will be effected by oil thats in it. 5W or 0W or 10W. Best to drop oilman a note and he can explain the why/what fors. But yes its normal. Steve
