nurrish
Simple put poppers in the doors. Looks very smooth So it would be operated solely by your key fob
Stew
Ask Andy. He has this done!

Andy
Keep up! Have just done this to mine! Have rewired the standard door solenoids that lock and unlock the door to now pop the door open so they now open using the standard key.

Maccaman
Makes for a really smooth look Only question I would have is, what happens if your fob packs in? I suppose you have to make sure you have a working back-up.
3FIDDYZ
Top work Mr Kudos Would love to do the TVR solanoid under the wing mirrors thing but I have seen one somewhere where the solanoid is placed behind the B pillar and you push that in a certain place to open... you would need to make sure the doors lock when you drive though like the BMW antihijack system or they may open at speed or when its very windy!... Martin W
What happens if you get a flat battery?
Andy
I have a separate external power feed going to the positive terminal on the battery so can jump the car externally from a jump pack or another car etc.
Martin W
Good Planning!!
Martin W
But to jump it wouldn't you need to have the clutch pressed down?
Andy
No, I can connect the jump pack or car to the external power cable then that would give enough power to pop the door then I am in and can pop the bonnet.
Martin W
OK - sounds like something I might do now Where do you put the power inputs?
Ian
I think it looks wrong I quite like the handles on the Z
Andy
It's just loose at the moment as I need to wire it in properly but I think it will end up being hidden behind the front number plate.
dcash5
Basically Andy's car will look like one of those AA vans where they can plug a set of jump leads in the front without popping the bonnet ha ha
Cragus
A zed without it iconic door handles is like a smoke without a pancake! All wrong that means (if you have not seen austin powers!)
bronzee
It's just loose at the moment as I need to wire it in properly but I think it will end up being hidden behind the front number plate. If some cheeky toerag stole your front plate, would they be able to see the button or however you're going to do it?

If some cheeky toerag stole your front plate, would they be able to see the button or however you're going to do it? Knowing Andy, i dont expect it to be just hanging there, out in the open, im sure he if not all ready has thought of that , think its one of them things, what you might like more seeing it with no handles in the flesh, if you know what i mean

It wouldn't be a button but just a charging point so you still can't get access to the car unless you have the key.

Yup it sounds like a really cool mod....until you have to live with it. I've done this to a previous car and while its rather cool and you get some quisicle looks when you open the door it can be a real pain in the air. When its posssing it down with shopping/bags its soo much easier just to open the door normally. IMO I would only do this mod to a proper show car, def not a daily driver otherwise it will drive you mad like mine did.
sunset350z
A zed with ne door handles is like a woman with no t*ts
Andy
I can fully understand where you are coming from Rob. My Z is now a weekend toy in all honesty. I have a Mondeo for the Tesco's run etc!
