M13KYF
IN the latest edition of Auto Express, another product test has been carried out on Hi Octane petrols available from BP, Shell and Tesco. Interesting results will raise a few eyebrows Tested on a Vauxhall Astra VXR on a rolling road with an accuracy of +/-1bhp Regular (95RON) 213.5bhp BP Ultimate (97RON) 209.7bhp Shell Optimax (98RON) 222.2bhp Tesco 99 (99RON) 221.3bhp How poor is BP ultimate. Surrey's rolling road's Charlie Wright thought the BP must be a bad batch. Surely it must be hard to make a bad batch. It's not like it's hand made. hagar
were the test on the same day done under the same atmospheric conditions?
M13KYF
it doesn't say but it does say that the tank and lines were drained and the car was driven for 60 miles to let the ECU maximise its settings
lomoto
if you can take this at face value , it truely astonishing the difference between BP and Shell or even Tesco
Jacko
if you can take this at face value , it truely astonishing the difference between BP and Shell or even Tesco Even so when BP is typically about 2-3p dearer per litre (well it is round here)
Chesterfield
Makes me feel good about having nowt but Tesco 99 in mine.
Derek_ZR
BP is dearer everywhere you go. At least Optimax shows a benefit seeing as we need to use it. Can't wait until Tesco sell 99 up here although the local Tesco does nothing but maintain high prices for all garages locally. Luckily I work in Edinburgh where it's 4ppl cheaper. Mathys
Was BP the only one which didn't want to sponsor the event? I'm sorry, but such huge differences between all of them (expect the 95) is kinda weird.
