imprexa99
Today I had to take the bumper off to fit new bumper side reflectors, new led side lights and chrome indicators. The side reflectors had leds in then and wired then to the side light earth and power to the inside of the car with a switch. But then the side lights only worked when i switched the bumper leds on. So I disconnected the bumper reflectors, and the earth from the side lights.. But now nothing, only full beam... any ideas? thanks
Andy
I'd check the fuses first but have a feeling you might need some resistors somewhere along the line.
imprexa99
Any idea as to where the fuse is? I have checked to footwell, all seem ok but not too sure what fuse is for sidelights as the cars an import and its all in japanese
Andy
I'm pretty sure dcash5 aka Dan had the same problem and someone posted up a photo of the fusebox....will have a look for you.

Where were they from? Easy way is to delete the switches and then scotchloc (or solder if your brave) directly onto the side lights so the side markers (reflectors) come on when the side lights..... With the side lights coming on only when you flicked the side marker (reflector) switch it sounds like you had them wired the wrong way round as the circuit was closed and then opened when you flicked the switch to the sidemarkers. This could end up with a blown fuse as you would be loading the wrong way round... When you say full beam, do you mean full beam or just headlights? full beam being on stage 2 on the stalk and the stalk pulled back towards you. Your title says "front and back" which back "side lights" are you talking about? Oh and last question! JDM or UK?
imprexa99
Had a mate ship them from oz, carbon fibre ones. Ok, so if I blew a fuse? which one, all in the fuse box (drivers footwell) are ok. Its a JDM import. Head lights work (hid) and brake lights work. But the rear normal lights not working, and front side lights not working. I presume they're all probably off the same fuse? The ones on the number plate or do you have the additonal bulb in your indicator light cluster? Do you have a fuse box where your battery is? Start from fresh ignore your new led jobs and just conect the original earth and the original power, so it is back how it was before you started! If it works let me know and i will talk you through conecting them up. If the lights still dont work with it conected as original then you have a problem which does sound v much like a fuse! coops
3FIDDYZ
Hoping that the OP didnt cut anything from the original... the new side markers should just connect on to the sidelight wires and should just be able to "detach" thought you had done that though! imprexa99
sorted, was a fuse. So many fuse boxes to check ha In the end it was the fuse box behind the battery. as for pics, have none yet but same as these in carbon fibre. Will have pics once they're wired up properly. I will be wiring the led side markers through there own power source and earth, with a switch and fuse to prevent this happening again! They did look sweet when working, should finish it all off tomorrow.
