Cold Air Induction Kits

I have tried to look through the history to see if this has been asked before but didn't spot it.

 

Has anyone got any experience with cold air induction kits. There seems to be a huge difference in cost on the internet with a K&N system for £220+ against an unbranded system for £45.

 

Questions are:-

 

1. Is it worth adding a kit

2. Do they deliver any real (perceivable) gains

3. Can anyone recommend a system.

also you have to be careful with cheap ones as they can suck water into the engine.

 

The more expensive ones have a valve that prevents this from happening
