hotrain69
hello guys, writing this at the end of a very stressful and unlucky week. having only got my new varis carbon fibre front lip from chilli's less than a week ago. just this morning, i was going down a very narrow lane with a lorry approaching me, so i pulled left to give as much space for lorry to past as possible. but in doing so i misjudged the front of the car and scraped the front left hand side of my zed which obviously means that i scraped the front left hand side of my new carbon lip quite badly. it is now all chipped and gone a bit white i know it's my own fault but just cant believe it's happened in less than a week. so i was just wondering whether these carbon fibre lips can be repairs like normal bodywork? whether i can get the damaged repaired somewhat? it will be so disheartening to know that i have completely wrecked a 400 quid lip in less than a week. any thoughts would be fantastic. thanks guys. Chris`I
Got pics? Most things are repairable, just need to see how bad it is. Varis carbon is cursed. No less than a week after owning mine, a rock hit it on the motorway and put a crator in front face of it! I had to colour it in with permenant marker Looks better than it sounds! srobrien
Depending on how big the mark is I have seen people touching up CF with paint and a brush, you need a fair amount of time and patients though. R
IanS16
I tidies up my Varis lip a few eeks ago. All I used was some plastic glue (not superglue) and I filled the cracks/holes in with the glue (by fingerpainting ) and then painted over it with a black permanent marker and then smudged a bit more glue over the top. Now I know that this sounds like a propper bodge job but if you take your time you can get it so that the CF weave still shows through perfectly but the glue and marker fill in the white cracks. Mine looks perfect now and the glue has held up perfectly (I'll show you in Wales if you want) Anyway, good luck
3FIDDYZ
All ways happens with new stuff, did the same with my new side skirts on the passanger side about a 2 weeks after having them fitted... big scrape from a brick in the road... I do remember there was another owner that had his kit fitted, drove out of the body shop, 200 meters down the road and some woman pulled out on him and smashed the whole of the front up.... Bugger! New things done stay new for long unfortunately....

I think thats a bit beyond glue and permenant marker

Chris`I
i will do that now. you have no idea how broken i feel right now. Its alright mate, they will know a way of getting it to look repectable at least. I would have thought atleast you could flat it back and layer on some new gelcoat. Its not broken the weave completely anywhere (doesnt look to be any damage to the weave acutally), so carefully sanding back almost to the weave and layering back up with gelcoat should be possible. Carbonology should be able to send you the right stuff

srobrien
was thinking that if you can't repair it you can always have the splitters colour coded to your car leaving the carbon lip in the middle, I always think that looks awsome. R
Martin W
I'm sure Chris is right on this. You'll be able to get back to almost as new
Adriank
Feel for you mate, mines chipped but that must be demoralising.
Chris`I
The other option if its not repairable, is just to have the end bit filled and painted black, and have the other side painted black too, just on the ends. You would never really notice it
