manc350z
OK.. i'm sure we've all had them.. been really looking forward to test driving a car then drove and thought "well that was a let down". I have had a few, please add yours.. i could do with a laugh.. so the first few are mainly written in a sarcastic style ! 1989 golf gti - hahahahahaha... noooo ... really... . what, this is a GTi... can you check only it feels like a 1.4l.. and the interior looks like one... Alfa Brera 3.2 q4 - fab looking.. but stupid to drive and had a drink problem... also made me think i might as well burn my cash as this had the potential to get through cash faster than a 3rd world dictator..... Saab 9-3 aero "hot" - what.. it has a turbo.. is it actually spinning only this thing feels like a ford transit under acceleration Audi a4 cabriolet 1.8t - WTF... is this thing running only i pressed the go pedal and it just wouldn't.. it is heavier than france with all the acceleration of glaciel drift. BMW x5 4.8is - whoa.. where do that 20 quid go.. i only put it in 22 miles ago.... so .. reason for posting this is i have a new one we test drove today for my wife which i need to add to the above .. Audi s6 - 2008, 08 plate - v10 petrol... Readers digest version of the test drive - It is .. well... dull.. no more fun or better to drive than the A6 3.0 quattro.. which is duller than milton keynes... It has body control issues and is a numb car to drive.. i understand the 2.0, 2.7, 3.0 feeling dull and "salesman" like as that is what they were designed for.. but i expected the S6 to be different, more edgy, like an M5 is compared to a 520d repspec and it just isn't... the M5 pulls the audi's pants down in all areas apart from internal opulence... the m5 is functional inside wheras the audi is a mix between bling and gin palace.. actually looked a bit liberace .... Tell me yours !!!
Ian
Saxo VTR I was all set to buy it until I test drove it. It was pretty quick but the interior was cheap & the brakes were awful. Apart from that i think i've bought the other cars I test drove. I did scare a SEAT salesman who was sat in the back of a cupra I tested, was spanking it around the lanes & he was in the back holding on
Chris`I
Not a test drive, but I got a Diesel Alfa Spyder (58 reg) as a courtesy car once. Saw it outside, and was like , but then realised it was a Diesel Was soo boring to drive and the turbo kicked in for a power band of about 100 RPM! Was **** poor, although did enjoy putting the roof down when it was snowing! I had to try it and it snowed for 4 days straight Very poor. S1 HNK
latest generation fn2 civic type r, was all set to put my deposit down on the day and it felt so numb, didnt pull anything like the ep3 and looking through the rear screen gave me a headache due to the stupid glass. Interior was nice though.
Gurjeet
drove a mazda rx8 192 and it was guff. felt like it had nothing under the bonnet, and had this weird whine noise as you went up the revs. the dealer assured me it was "engineered in for the sporting experience". SteveW
My 350Z . . . . . when I first drove it I was decidedley underwhelmed having moved from a Celica GT4. The turbo kick made it feel much quicker. Anyways the mrs pushed me to buy the zed so I did and all I can say is now I have learned how to drive it properly its so much faster, more fun and scary than my GT4 was. rtbiscuit
nissan put me off the 350z, my wife persauded me to go back and try it again, but demand a better test route. had a ford siesta as a courtesy car for 3 months hated the thing with a passion, it was no advert for buying ford put it that way. ford escort test drove, decidedly uninspiring. test drove one of the older supercharged BMW mini's, like ian i did scare the crap out of the dealer who passengered in the rear. did what he told me to do, he said give it some beans round the round about and up the slip road to see what its capable of. did as he said. slid sideways round the roundabout. and was at 85 half way up the sliproad. i think the colour from his face drained right out. Why do you drive backwards? i had one and quite liked it, but then i did get bored after 8 months and sold it for the zed. it was my shortest car ownership yet. normally i last a year before i get bored and then spend 6 months finding something new. Stew
Emmmm, Perodua Nippa I had as a courtesy car. It was slightly paler than that but still an uber gay purple / pink colour! I actually had great fun in it trying to kill it in a week. It went back with half of one of my fields under it as we went rallying in damp grass.... 3 cylinder and sounded like an impreza when the air filter was removed! It was a biscuit tin. My mate leaned on it and dented it. It felt like you were going to die at 60 and the interior was the crapiest thing I've ever seen! Horrible, horrible experience but very fun at the same time....
