matth76
Hi I'm looking for an aftermarket exhaust which looks similar to stock, ie has rolled tips and are slightly slanted (ie don't stick out), but perhaps just a bit larger and sounds similar to stock (so you can still hear the v6) but louder with more of a growl/snarl . So far the closest I can find is the Nismo exhaust which sounds excellent and looks perfect however I can't find any used ones for sale at the moment and at £1400+ are very very pricey. Any cheaper alternatives I can consider under a grand? I've been looking for weeks now, many searches and the closest I can find are a few US exhausts - Magnaflow, Borla and Bassani (sounds amazing), all three are quality makes but all are over in the States so awkward finding a supplier plus the shipping and tax makes it almost the same as a nismo. Invidia Q300 is another strong contender but no idea on what it would cost to ship it over here nor what it sounds like as it is so new (no clips on youtube) - does look very good though:
Stew
My advice. Drop Adam at Z1 a Pm and he'll tell you how much shipping is.... Not sure if you got an answer back from the used Nismo on the site. Have you checked out Z store to see what the chillis offer? Finally, maybe it's an idea to get an exhaust made. It is quite reasonable and you should get what you want then. Digsy
Its worth noting that the Nismo tips are a different shape to the standard exhaust, so they don't slant back and stick out a touch more.
Chris`I
My advice. Drop Adam at Z1 a Pm and he'll tell you how much shipping is.... Not sure if you got an answer back from the used Nismo on the site. +1 - You will be supprised at the price Adam can get you one. His delivery is stupidly quick too! Sarnie was quoting around a grand to get one from Adam recently. I think thats your best bet. Also, decide on what other mods you might like soon, as IIRC there is space in the Nismo box for things like plenum spacers etc with no extra shipping cost. This makes it much more weighted in your direction
S1 HNK
dont know where you are based, but i had my exhaust custom built, (it is only the backbox but the mid pipe wont be much more and i might get one done when it goes in) You can choose you tailpipes, the quality is brilliant and most of all it cost me under £300. I wanted a Nismo also and i dont think you can beat the sound of them but the cost is just too high for me. This exhaust place is in Cheshire but there must be loads of places that do this around the country. Just a thought
Lexx
I had a custom exhaust made for my old RX8. got it done at MIJ Performance in derby. Good service, and a quality product. You can then choose the exact tips you want, and exactly where you want them positioned
dcash5
Give Chilli a PM and see what they can offer by the sounds it of it you want an OEM look but louder, has to be the Nismo - Not cheap but sooooooo nice! Dan
matth76
Thanks guys. Am I right in assuming anything bought from the States requires me to pay 15% vat to collect it as that is my responsibility as far as I know? Already have prices from Adam and Envy's website. Both good and fair prices considering the price hike in the Nismo but both over my budget unfortunately. So I'm either looking at a used Nismo or as suggested above a custom made one. Because exhausts don't really offer any power increase and I only want a bit more sound would I only really require a new backbox (rear muffler and tail pipes) or could I get a custom made mid pipe with a resonator deleted perhaps or larger bore diametre (so I get to keep the stock rear back box and tail pipes, just different mid pipe) but get that extra growl I'm after? I'm in the south east (Sussex) - can anyone recommend any custom exhaust places that have worked on a 350z or Jap cars that are good at what they do but offer a very reasonable price in the south east (Im prepared to travel)? I've heard horror stories of people getting custom jobs done and it all goes wrong whereas others rave about them - so need to find the right people. Thanks for any help. matth76
Thanks guys. I've heard of them actually. Are they very good? And where are they based or do that have more than one branch?
matth76
Found their website and they seem good quality. M350Z please is it possible to post a sound clip so I could listen to it - and is yours a true duel or single mid pipe system? I assume you tell them how you want it to sound and they know the tricks to produce that kind of sound? Ideally I want something that sounds similar to a Nismo (maybe a touch louder) - so you can still hear the V6 howl but it sounds quite a bit louder and importantly has character. matth76
Ok, I sent Hayward and Scott a detailed enquiry of what I was looking for and the response I received is as follows: We would need the car to be able to build and fit for you as we don't have a pattern for this car. Approx price from the end of your cats is £650 fitted but excluding VAT. We would need the car for approx 4 days. - sounds very similar to a response given to another member enquiring with them viewtopic.php?f=62&t=21081&p=301010&hilit=hayward+scott+%C2%A3650#p301010 and I thought M350zB already had a true dual one so not sure why they would need my car for basically a whole week as my car would be basically the same apart from the rolled tips at the end. Either way it has put me off a bit, so still looking for alternatives that sound similar to the Nismo and Bassani. Can't believe how hard the search is for a rolled tips exhaust (similar to stock just a bit bigger and bit louder) for between £500-£

BulletMagnet
How about getting a Scorpion or similar, then have the tips removed and rolled ones welded on?

Stew
APS is a great exhaust. Not sure how it sounds on a non FI Zed though...
Martin W
APS is a great exhaust. Not sure how it sounds on a non FI Zed though... I had it on for about 2 months before converting A1+, but I dunno what diffrence FI really makes Some say it muffles the zorst noise

I had it on for about 2 months before converting A1+, but I dunno what diffrence FI really makes Some say it muffles the zorst noise It does, so it will be *rather* loud on a non-FI car Kinda like a Nascar

Peewee
Last week I called in on Longlife exhaust system specialists, based in Wallington, Surrey (not a million miles from E.Sussex) for a rough quote for replacement of OEM cat back, to include centre section and rolled tips. Quote was £450 incl vat and fitting. I have used them twice before and can recommend. I am still not absolutely sure what I want, even considering dual system which presumably will cost a little more. There Tel no. is 0844 800 2960. If you contact them, will be interested to know how you get on.
