it could be the system needs a flush, this would cause these symptoms, i think i have read before about a zed having sludge in the heater core

check coolant level

check the radiator is not obstructed (suprising what can get stuck on there, plastic bags, leaves etc)

Take it the heaters get as hot as usual when on? Not an airlock somewhere?

Heaters are working fine Chris.

I came home from work tonight, pulled up on the drive and could hear the fan running. Turned the heater off and within 5 seconds the engine fan stopped.
