Andy
O2 have kindly just sent me a free iPhone 3G 16gb phone as an upgrade but I have no real use for it so I am wondering if I can sell it as it is or do I have to register it first myself and unlock it?? Not too clued up on these things and don't want to sell it if it's not going to work for the person I potentially sell it to!! Anybody clued up on these things?? sl114
Nope, but let me know the costs when you decide to sell
IanS16
Andy, I'm pretty sure you can sell it locked. The person you sell it to just needs a computer and an o2 simcard. If they want to use it on another network they will just have to jailbreak it first and do a couple of other things but if you sell it as unopened its up to them
S1 HNK
yeah Ian is right, you can sell it as it is aslong as the person is on o2. The problems is other networks. Plenty of people are on o2 anyway and they fetch very good money. I nearly sold my upgrade but once i'd used it i was hooked.
Andy
Cool, thanks guys, will probably throw it on ebay as they do seem to be fetching some silly prices! I already have an iPhone, hence why I am happy to just flog this one on!
BulletMagnet
Unlocking is as easy as....an easy thing. I have been jailbreaking and unlocking iPhones for free, because I find it disgusting how people can charge for something that anybody can do in a few mins. Andy, I will be on MSN tomorrow night after 8pm-ish, if you want guidance.

BulletMagnet
I don't want to be posting a guide on here, because I don't know how many Apple employees use these forums and don't want to get anybody into potential trouble, myself included
