AndWood
I phoned up my local dealer today to book my car in for a P1 service and after quoting me £251 I mentioned that this price was a bit steep and advised that I would be supplying my own oil, they then refused to do the service as it was now Nissan's policy that they can only use their oil. Has anyone else had this? What sort of price should a P1 be? I live in surrey by the way as I know the price can depend on where you live

Chesterfield
This is news to me too, my dealers never had a problem using my own oil, as long as it met specifications. Are times really that hard that dealers cant live without the daft profit margins they put on the standard crap oil they put in the cars? As above, try a reccomended independent/specialist. If dealers are starting to take that kind of attitude with customers, they deserve to go under.
sunset350z
I was quoted £176 for a p1 at a dealer near me (Bridgend). A bit mean of them not to use your oil
toffeeblock
Had a P1 yesterday with Nissan Basingstoke, no problems with them using my own oil and filter (used Mobil Synth from Opie), £171 for service. Could have saved a bit more if I'd told them to leave the screen wash alone! Doh, live and learn. And they replaced my corroding wiper arms under warranty, which I was half expecting a battle over. Try a different dealer, and mention the owners club so they may be more accommodating to avoid bad press on here. tra toffeeblock
NWZ
£119 P1 Nissan Chorley supplied my own oil.

Chesterfield
Suggest you inform them of your new policy not to be shafted and shop elsewhere. Consumer is king.

sunset350z
£119 P1 Nissan Chorley supplied my own oil. I remember on my P3 last year i told Nissan not to change the oil as it was only done the day before,so they knocked over 60 quid off the bill. If i take it to them for the service i'll ask them to put my oil in and see how much they charge. I normally get the oil changed every 3,000 miles by kwikfit who only charge me £40 for fully synthetic mobil, but i've bought some oil from Opie's and kwikfit want £30 to change inc filter using my oil. 3FIDDYZ
Which dealer? I belive Ancasters in Croydon will let you supply oil as would Wilsons in Epsom, but I dont like them that much to recommend them!! Nothing wrong with servicing, I just had an issue just after I bought the car with the window motor!

nixy
just saw on the opie site that they do a 'service kit' where they supply just over 6 litres of oil and a filter. Has anyone done this or do you just get the oil.
Mitchell
I have just ordered the service kit from Opie and will hopefully be doing the service tonight. Did take over a week from putting the order in to it turning up though!
Kennydies
You should ask to see a copy of the policy... Although I wold not go there on principle now... I do hate to pay a garage a couple of hundred quit for something I can do myself just to get a stamp. How about a group buy on a rubber nissan stamp? bernmc
EU law has tightened up on many of the dealer warranty scams. Your warranty cannot be voided if you use oil of the proper spec. Similarly it can't be voided if you go to a properly trained independent rather than a main dealer. I'd fire of a letter to trading standards as a matter of principle and being British (ie having a moan!). Get names.
