NWZ
Hi Guys, I'm after some advice for a friend of mine. His wife took their 120d into their local BMW dealer for a service today. No warning lights or DSC (ESP to you & me) light on the dash. When she went to collect, the garage told her the DSC was faulty and needed replacing £1500 !!! Now bearing in mind the light wasn't on when she took the car in, and the dealer advised that the rear discs & pads needed doing. Could the garage have knackered something when they were checking the brakes? My mate is sooo p'd off - he phoned me tonight to tell me. Any experts / advice to help? Should he phone trading standards or get a second opinion before speaking to the dealer tomorrow? The trouble here is how does he also prove that the problem wasn't there in the first place? Much appreciated for a friend in need.....
ZMANALEX
The first question that I would be asking is: What is actually wrong with the DSC ? And what parts are they actually proposing to change ? There are DSC sensors close to the rear brakes.!!!!!!! I would also be asking for a print out of the current and archived fault codes. H5
What Alex said. Then sell it.
Chris`I
What they said! (except selling it!) You want the exact code and history of them. Which parts they plan to replace and why. And what was likely to have caused them to fail. Then get on the bimmer forums and ask them, they know more than us
