BulletMagnet
I PM'ed martinmac about this already and said I'd show him what I meant when we meet up at Wales. But I did eventually got my arse in gear and got the camera out. Now I was wondering if that edge is normal? Should it look like that or does that need sorting? Thanks for any advice Mark *update with more pics* Starting from driverside near windscreen and then going around to the passenger side. martinmac
Difficult to tell from a photo but we will all have a look in May.
3FIDDYZ
Where is it? Looks like in the Louvre but could be mistaken!
BulletMagnet
It's right on the top edge near the windscreen, but I have similar edges in different parts of the bonnet edge. Will take more pics later.
Chris`I
Where is it? Looks like in the Louvre but could be mistaken! +1 where is it? Rubbing or already like that when you got it? EDIT: Whoops, ya too quick!
Chris`I
Are they scratches or stress fractures? Stress fractures tend to look like crows feet. Seem very odd
3FIDDYZ
I would guess at it being something to do with the manufacturering process where it has come out of the mould. Any "wet" carbon where a laquer process is used is going to have some imprefections in it. Get some other pics up!
rtbiscuit
looks the same as if you were to run sand paper on it, and the edge has scrathced, my guess is its rubbing, the bonnet will vibrate only slightly, but it would be enough to take the shine off the resin. i bet it would polish up. IanS16
I have the same Varis CF bonnet and mine look exactly the same on the windsrceen edge.
Stew
I'd give it a bit of polish and see how it comes out.

IanS16
Did you manage to polish it out in the end?
BulletMagnet
No I haven, but will attempt during next wash. I usually use Meguiars Tech Wax on the whole car including the bonnet, but didn't think to use it on the edge. Will update when I've had a go. Adriank
You didnt get it laquered before you fitted it.... Its always advised to get a good bodyshop to over laquer the carbon for extra shine and toughness, and to sort out any bits like that. Might not be too late to get it done still mate. Would have thought a carbon bonnet would be a bolt on.. bit crap if you have to take it to be laquered.

Varis use very robust gelcoat on their carbon, but I have heard it before that its worth getting it laquered too. Just adds another layer of protection from stone chips
Adriank
Exactly, its not a requirement to laquer it, but it does make the coating tougher and will gloss up and dodgy edges the bonnet might have.
