nixy
Just got a new laptop and trying to connect to my BT homehub. The laptop has picked up two other BT homehubs in the vicinity (passworded of course) but not mine. The wireless light on the hub is lit up. Any ideas anyone? Any ideas anyone? aerials all pointed upright? anything in manual that suggests the first connection must be a wired one?
Chesterfield
I dont have a BT home hub, and I think the setup is slightly different to a normal wireless hub. Sounds like your hub is not broadcasting its SSID. Can you connect to the hub via an ethernet cable. If so, log in and check the following: Go to Advanced, and go to 'Configuration' > 'Wireless' > 'Security', then make sure there is a tick in the "Broadcast Network Name: Try connecting via wireless again afterward and see if you can find it. If you can, then set this as the default wireless connection on your laptop, and then you can log back into the hub and remove the tick again (stops people seeing your network and "trying" to get on). Hope that helps.
Beavis
Try powering it down then back up again nixy, then see if your laptop see's it.
ab350z
You'll probably need to plug directly into the router first of all to do it and run the setup cd or access the routers ip address in your internet explorer.
nixy
right, I'll hang on I think its got two ethernet slots so I should be able to connect the laptop at the same time (if I can find another lead) if not I'll disappear and come back after trying all that!
