ANDYB350Z
Hi fellas, just had new pads all round on my JDM 350z when im almost stopped the brakes are squeeking, think its coming from the rears, any ideas what this could be ? H5
Hi Andy, what pads are they? Although a mechanic fitted them, have they had copper grease applied to the back of the pads? Thirdly, have you gone through a bedding in process yet? If you ask the mechanic the second question, don't ask him if he put copper grease on, he'll just say yes.... Lucy9101
Hi everyone, Im having the same problem - i bought my 350z a week ago now from a garage and since i got it the brakes have been squeeking. Im not sure if its front or back, the salesman said its probably just brake dust as the car had been stood for a couple of weeks and the dust will wear off. I'v tried the usual braking harder etc to remove the brake dust but if anything it seem's to b getting worse and louder. Any suggestions would be helpful although im thinking about just taking it back and telling them to sort it. Thanks - Lucy
Stew
I greased up my pads and bedded mine in. They are squeeling like a banshee right now. I think I probably washed out the grease...... I think I'll have to whip out the pads and redo it. I'd suggest that to people with the same problem. Simple to do by yourself or it'll take a mechanic 15 mins to do the fronts. Lucy9101
I'll give that a try and see if it stops it - Thanks
martinmac
Hi Lucy, welcome to the forum. The squeeky brakes are very annoying. What sort of pads have you got on the car.
Chris`I
Make sure when you break them in you do it properly. They should really stink and might even smoke. I did mine half heartedly first of all and they really squeaked, but now done right they are fine
Lucy9101
Thanks - It is very annoying and everyone looks at me when im stopping as its obviously not just me that can hear it ha ha The brakes are Brembo's. Its normally only when im applying light pressure and have nearly stopped, i noticed it the day i picked the car up (last tuesday) but they tried fobbing me off and said it was brake dust so i have given it a week but surely after a week of driving this would have stopped or at least become less noticable by now? I have warranty on the car so could just take it back but if it was nothing major i'd rather have it done now so its not annoying me anymore. Lucy9101
Thanks Chris - I will give that a try before i go complaning to the garage. I was soooooo excited to get my 350z as iv been debating about one for a couple of years and now all i can hear is the stupid brakes - i just want it to b fixed so i can enjoy it
martinmac
If you have warranty then make them earn their money. Stick a post up in the intro section with some pics of the car. We never tire of looking at pics of zeds
Stew
I did a couple of big blasts of the brakes yesterday and the combo of mental stoppers and big tyres took chunks out the road! It was cool! Still need to do it from even higher speed though......
