had ham
I think rather it's Ellesmere port, GM/Vauxhall up in Merseyside. the owners of the other plants in the UK with the exception of Ford (BMW, Nissan, Toyota, VW, etc) have some cash reserves which mean cash-driven closure is unlikely. GM are up the creek and very nearly in Chapter 11 - without an additional US Govt loan they'll be there in a month at best.

We need that 2.5k off the gov't if you trade in a scrapper to revitalise teh market.. Germany seem to be loving it.....

Too right, but by the time the government pull the fingers out of their tight arses it'll be too late. It'll take them a year to discuss it in parliament
manc350z
by then we'll need a good feckin land war to boost the economy.. my money's on invading france... they deserve it !!!
Stew
2.5k for a scrapper works well. Considering you pay VAT at 15% on the new car price anyway! Even at 8k it's still £1200 so it's halfway there!
stanski
Hav'nt France done this - they will give you so many Euros for your old banger no matter what condition as part ex against a new car (obviously be a French new car) Maybe they are not so dumb!
