vasser
Hi all. think the oil pressure in my 350z is a bit high . What is the normal oil pressure when the car is just sitting idle, and at different speeds. Any comments is appreciated. Thanks Guys/Girls
Trev-the-Rev
When cold, around 30-40 at idle and upto the max when the revs are up. When hot, around 15 at idle and 50-60 at higher rpm. If you're using oil that is any thicker than about 10W 30, that may be your problem.
vasser
Thanks Trev. Just put fresh oil in the car and the pressure was really high. Took it out for a little run and had to brake quite heavily and the pressure levels have returned to normal. Maybe and air bubble trapped or something. seems to be sorted now, did use the thin oil though CASTROL 5W. dont quite understand what happened Thanks again

Also depends on what make of oil filter you used, that is if you changed it which I hope you did
vasser
Yeah changed filter too, Nissan 350Z 3.5L V6 F/I K&N Oil Filter HP-1008. Probably pointless though as its due its full service in April. But still best to be safe!
