whittingham631 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I know this has prob been asked a thousand times already but what flywheel and clutch would be best to go for? Engine is standard at the moment but tempted to upgrade at some point. Quote
martinmac Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 The JWT Clutch was £360 and the Exedy organic clutch was £395 + fitting A lighter JWT flywheel was £315, its half the weight of the standard unit improving throttle response This was a few months ago and although there is a litle more mechanical noise I love them Quote
whittingham631 Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 thanks martinmac, i was thinking roughly along those lines, when you have a lighter flywheel in does the car need to be reved higher when pulling off? and also do the idle revs need to be raised?? Quote
martinmac Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Not really noticed any need to rev it, no need to change the idle revs. The noise is the only isue that may have to consider. Not a big deal though. If Fletch is about pm him. He did all the work, I just drank the coffee. Quote
whittingham631 Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 will do, thanks for the fast reply:D Quote

Adam@Z1auto.com Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 What are your power goals with the car? What do you use the car primarily for? Quote
whittingham631 Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 would like to aim for around 450BHP when finances allow it, use it weekends on road but would like to try track days here and there. Quote
Adam@Z1auto.com Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 so that means forced induction of some sort (supercharger or turbo). The JWT setup would work ok or the Exedy. I prefer the ACT overall as the flywheel is a 1 piece unit (quieter than the 2 piece JWT), and the ACT clutch holds significantly more power, while having a very nice pedal feel Quote

Adam@Z1auto.com Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 the Heavy Duty is what ACT calls it's full radius, sprung hub sport clutch. It's designed for NA or FI applications and will hold up to 597 ft lbs of torque. Very nice pedal effort, and very very easy to drive. Quote
