Bundus
Hi guys I really want to start taking nice pics like some of the ones ive seen posted on here. Ive seen some that look like movie stills and really want to know how you achieve that. I know Im not going to be able to do that with my 6 mega pixel Sony T9 digital so where would be a good place to start? When camera shopping what things should I be looking out for? Is it the pixel rating or something else that achieves that nice looking image? As I said I already have a compact digital camera so Im looking for something a bit more chunky with a proper zoom and perhaps a changeable lens (if thats a good thing lol) Dont want to spend loads of money perhaps just something entry level that I can start taking some nicer quality shots with. If someone can recommend a good start then I can take a look when I get to Vegas tomorrow and see if I can pick something up out there - I just need to know what im looking for. Cheers guys - much appreciated as always!
martinmac
I am pretty useless with the clever cameras so keep it simple. I use a Casio Exlim with 10.1 mega pixels. Its compact and easy to use and takes pretty good pics.
MITZ@CougarStore
Stanski is very knowledgeable with all this; hopefully he’ll be able to help… Like yourself, I have one of the Sony T-series, so this is something I’d be interested in too…

Matt T
Do you want to go for SLR? How much do you want to spend? You can get a Canon 1000D for £282, or Nikon D60 for £335.
nate247
I guess if you are looking for something entry level and easy to use, an SLR probably won't be for you. My advice for a good point and shoot (at a cheap price) would be the Fuji F50fd. Can be had for around the £100 mark and is great at daytime shots but also has one of the best sensors for using it in more dimly lit situations, (which lets face it is more often than not at parties, events, indoors etc). You can probably get better but I just forked out £250 for a Panasonic FX500 and its not even as good as my old Fuji F31fd (which was only 6 mega pixels). I had a Casio Exlim as recommended above as well. Another great cam but for me (at the price) the Fuji is the better all rounder. The Casio takes a slightly more saturated picture, where as the Fuji is more natural. Both can be tweeked in programs like Picasa and iPhoto etc, dependent on if you use Mac or PC. If your budget is much higher then your options do improve but I wouldn't say you will see any massive gains in picture quality as for me, compact point and shoot cameras have started to stagnate of late and they have pushed the current technology / sensors to the limits at the minute. Just remember, its not all about mega pixels, but rather quality of the sensor used and post processing / compression techniques within the camera.
