Can anyone tell me if the service stamps in the warranty book have to be by an authorised Nissan dealer in order for the warranty to be valid or is any garage permitted and does it need to say 'carried out to nissan standard or anything like that if an ordinary garage is ok?

From memory the service stamps should be from a Nissan dealer/Nissan Approved dealer for the Warranty to be honoured… :)

I don't know if I'd be prepared to chance that knowing what Nissan are like when it comes to making warranty claims.

I've stuck to using main dealers whilst my car is still under warranty, but I shall be off to aspecialist as soon as it expires.

Agree, I was just quoting what I seem to remember seeing on the programme.

under the European block exemtion rules..

any dealer can serving and repair cars under makers warranty period, so long as they are qualified and Genuine parts used

taken from their site .... :)

EC Competition Law (Articles 84 and 85) Enforcement Regulations 2001;

EC Regulation 1400/2002;

Regulation 17 of the 1998 Competition Act

QUESTION .......What effect will the new block exemption have on the car repair and servicing market?

These changes will mean more competition in the servicing and repair market leading to lower costs and higher standards for consumers.

The after-sales market will be opened up, with a change to the rules linking new car sales and servicing. Dealers will still have to ensure that customers' cars are serviced and repaired to manufacturer-approved standards, but they will no longer have to do it themselves; and, independent garages and roadside assistance organisations will have much greater access to technical information, including diagnostic equipment and software.

To be frank the Nissan Main dealer network would be the last place my Zed would go for any repairs / servicing etc.. .. :teeth:

Bit of a side question (sorry for the thread jack Arkwright) but once the car is out of the warrenty period does a car stay more desirable if it has a full Nissan service history or not? I'm assuming not because ESR used to be very very popular for services but just want someone to confirm this for me.

Cheers

well thats down to the next buyer. ask yourself the same question, would your prefer to buy one with a Nissan service history or one with just a service history. Which one would you choose?
