Driving impressions - 309bhp model compared to 276bhp model

Hi

Has anyone driven the 2007 onward 309bhp (313ps) model - how does it feel to drive compared to the earlier 276bhp model - does the acceleration "pull" from lower down the revs? I know top end it will probably have the edge on the earlier model with the higher bhp and extra 1000 revs before the redline but I'm interested in the pick up from low down like ~2500 revs. They have pretty much the same amount of torque but I heard the torque is more available lower down the rev range in the new 313ps model - is this true?

Thanks for any help and info.

Later engine undoubtedly feels more urgent throughout the rev range. And sounds ten times better too! B)

The whole car is better....first test drive i did was in a new early 07 with the 296 (or smth) engine....second in a used 52reg i think defo with the 276 (or smth) engine as the bloke said to me....both about the same...i would say the 276 was pulling a bit better mid range...and that was only just noticeable...apart from not much difference...

Bought the 313 (or 309 in england) and yes pulls better throughout the rev range and you can tell...it handles a bit different..cant say better as i havent driven all of them on a track...but feels more solid and defo more comfortable in every day driving.... ;)

Saying that i have changed coilovers already so its not comfy any more...

Steers and handles like a dream tho.... :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

From what I've Phil told me, the ranking he gave them was the 309BHP was the best all round, but mods were hard to come by. The 276BHP was better than the 296BHP as the latter has more power but less low down torque. He said you dont really notice the extra power, but you do notice the torque as thats what you want for day to day driving. He said he had a couple of customers wishing they had gotten the original 276BHP and saved the money to mod it. In todays market though I would plump for a 309BHP for the better revised engine and interior. But it depends if you want to mod the engine or not. I personally wouldnt bother other than an intake to get you more noise :teeth:

Is the bose stereo the same in the earlier 276 bhp model compared to the 309bhp model? And apart from the silver round the gearbox and 3 silver air con knobs all the other dashboard parts/plastic are exactly the same?

Same bose, different sat nav, position of the hazzard button is different there is no cup holder in the dash, but a sliding bit in the middle with two cupholders in

Ive drove the 276 and own a 309, and think the 309 is defo the best all rounder! :teeth:

I drove both before buying mine and thought the newer one pulled off a little bit better, didn't think there was too much difference too be honest apart from price tag..so opted for a earlier model and a fair few ££k to play with...and after spending a bit mine WILL sound better than a 07+ model
