marzman Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Anyone here like sushi? Im well into it - it costs me a fortune eating out on it...! Anyway, i got a Yo! Sushi book for christmas, and have been experimenting tonight... Was a bit scary taking my first few bites of raw fish thats not from a restaurant, but im not dead yet...!! Quote
Stew Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Great effort. I really like Sushi. I actually really like Japanese food. Quote
S1 HNK Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 adore the stuff but like you say its pretty pricey! Go to Yo Sushi alot and its so hard not to reach for the expensive grey plates!! Quote
nixy Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Just looking at that has made me nearly wretch! Quote
tmJak Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 There's a couple of good sushi places in Manchester. Think it's ok, but a lot of the tastes are subtle and I like obvious tastes. Don't see the point in roe. . . Quote
Jay Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Oh hell no i defo wouldnt eat raw fish However i have taken raw meat when i was in france with a raw egg on top Quote
Adriank Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I've had it before, i can eat it but wouldnt choose it over some other foods. Quote
lilsheepshagga_turbo Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 i love the stuff... looks a pretty good effort there aswell... dont thinkn the prices are too bad... me and my lass would usually come to abot 40-50 quid for a meal (i know the owner so its cheaper for me) and tbh thats kinda average pricing for a meal in newcastle... japanese food as a whole is lush.. alot better than my native chinese rubbish aswell... ps: YO sushi isn't the best..... Stew Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 We don't have Yo Sushi here. We have an independant place called Yatai. http://www.yatai.co.uk/Yatai_-_Aberdeens_Japanese_Restaurant/Home.html It's one of my favourite restaurants and the soft shell crap is sublime! Quote
Zedrush Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Prefer Wagamama for Jap food http://wagamama.com/ chicken Katsu curry Chicken Gyoza and Chicken Skewers YUM!!! or Nobu's http://www.noburestaurants.com/london/index.html Quote

Do you mean St Sushi, that is just down the road from me and I love to go there yeh st sushi bud.. they've got rid of the conveyer belt though which is poopy (supposedly customers complained about it not being fresh enough)...also fyi buddy they;ve opened bread point just around the corner..it kinda makes oriental buns and stuff... you should give it a try. sagawa just around the corner is just as good.. alot better if you gota big group as you can go upstairs and have the ship table thingy... -ho Quote
Toon Chris Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 yeah, I saw the conveyer had gone. The bread point, on the corner on the way down to Richer Sounds? Looks nice (smells great!) but haven't tried it yet. Sagawa I have heard good things about but never tried. After trying a few local 'chinese' restaurants I have pretty much given up on them - all the ones in chinatown seem to be minkin'. I had high hopes for Mangos but it was shite. Quote
lilsheepshagga_turbo Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 ermm if your after good chinese food then try dragon I.. its where the leazes pub next to the bmw/mini garage.. its my uncles but its actually good even from a chinese persons point of view.. plus i would have words if it werent... yeh bread point on the way to richer sounds... tis good chinese cakey.. -ho Quote
bronzee Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Prefer Wagamama for Jap food http://wagamama.com/ Wagamama must be franchise. We have it here too, the food Asian foods they have at the ones here are ok, but then we've got a large Asian population so we get used to having excellent Asian food. Yumm! Quote
