scottishpedro
Hi all, Just got the zed back after being off the road for a couple of weeks. My 5th - 6th synchro was ever so slighly beginning to crunch, at high revs. As my aftermarket warranty was nearing it's end I thought I'd get it sorted. Cost £500, but company only giving me £300 back as they say the job should only take 6 hours and the guy I was using (who is a transmission specialist) took 14. I know for a fact that the warranty company are a complete con as the first 3 nissan dealers I phoned round quoted 11 hours. Anyway... Since having the car back I've been having gear trouble. 5th - 6th gear is now fine, it's 1st and 2nd that are annoying me. When changing between 1st - 2nd, more so on a downshift, the gear is really stiff, worst into 1st. My good friend H_Potter assures me it is just the cold weather, and that the gearox takes a while to heat up. My drive to and from work is around 20-25 mins (13 miles) and it seems to get no better by the time i'm home. This has lead me to draw up a list of 3 possible conclusions. 1) the gear box is cold - I got the car in June and so maybe have never really driven it cold, the weather here in Scotland has been chilli since I got the car back 2) I am not used to the chunky 350z gears. I have been driving my girlfriend's Kia Picanto which has a super slick gear change (it really does!) 3) My gearbox is f***d! Any ideas? Cheers, Pedro. H5
Welcome to the forum... Was it a Nissan dealer that did the work? If so, I'd go back and ask them to check it out again....
