clarkie34
I have a Alpine headunit and my steering wheel controls still work. You need to purchase a interface for it.

Hi, does it matter what headunit it is and where do I get one of them from? thanks
H5
If you get rid of the BOSE, you will lose the standard Bluetooth hands free. The bulk of the electrickery is in the head unit. With an Alpine unit (and some others) you can get the steering wheel controls to work, but will need to use the Alpine hands free set up. jonb
That's great info thanks! I suspected it might be the case - since the BT plays through the amp I should have known it needed a bit more than a phone-mute line to integrate it. Too much to hope the little deaf lady would be reusable! "Pardon"
