Trev-the-Rev
Any one thinking of buying a brand new Z in 2010 should consider this:First years tax £940. But this if only for the first year of its life. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/HowToTaxYourVehicle/DG_172916 Another reason not to buy new again when you add this to the horrendous depreciation. Shaun1982
Sorry if this is a repost, only just read this elsewhere! Brilliant news for me! But if it's not a repost then I wonder why nobody else haven't pinned this yet? Z registered before 23 March 06: Tax starting from- 1st April 2009 to 1st March 2010 - £215 1st April 2010 to 1st March 2011 - £245 Z registered on or after 23 March 06: Tax starting from- 1st April 2009 to 1st March 2010 - £405 1st April 2010 to 1st March 2011 - £435 Let's hope it stays at these rates! Sorry if this is a daft question but does it mean say for example a 2003 zed imported in 2007 would pay the £400+ tax or does it go buy the reg? sunset350z
Yes if the car was imported after 23rd march 2006 then you would pay the higher rate

captain
"Yes if the car was imported after 23rd march 2006 then you would pay the higher rate" Nope. '03 JDM imported June '09. Just paid £190 for the year.
geoff-r
Really wish I hadn't seen this thread, mine's up on the 31st march, get in there quick, paying £435 is gonna hurt, like £400 didn't hurt enough

shieldsie
My way of thinking is, my new Scorpion exhaust that is waiting for me to collect, just cost me £75, what a bargain.
Mikewales
Just been flicking through the Top Gear buyers directory and in there its stated that tax bands are being backdated to 2001; quoted from the magazine, page 7 "Don't forget, the Government will be increasing road tax from April 2010 and backdating it to cars registered after 2001". Can anyone confirm this? Bad news if its true!
narcotix
Can anyone confirm this? Bad news if its true! I hope not but it's probably going to happen sooner or later ... I've just checked the Direct Gov site and it looks like we're alright for the now ... see link below: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Ow ... /DG_172916
marzman
But it looks like pre 06 cars will be going up to 245 though
narcotix
But it looks like pre 06 cars will be going up to 245 though That's not too bad compared to the £400+ it would have been .... I used to pay £215 on my FTO a few years ago ... so £245 for the zed seems quite fair to me ...
