marzman
Sorry, got to disagree about the R32 - I think they look like propper hot hatches - all kitted up etc. And arent they still like £13k?? Thought the current R32 looked quite ordinary Sorry, didnt catch the part where we moved onto the Mk5 - i was still in Mk4 mode!!
Chris`I
I'd say Octavia RS or MK1 Seat Leon Curpa. Both can be tuned very hight (Cupra R can get to about 270BHP just from a remap, no other extras). Handling no where near as good as a Zed, but they dont half shift still. Also very stealthy. Other than that I'd say an older Audi RS/S4. Funny how they are all made from the same bits
MrLizard
i had a 2.0 ltr turbo audi a3 mapped for £350 to 245bhp, i went for the flappy paddles but id suggest the quattro one. great cars and never got any attention, tho not a patch on the zed http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/AUDI+A3/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-24-50-112-144-240-4294966334-4294966997/advert.action?R=200836317989205&distance=100&postcode=CV2+2NY&channel=CARS&make=AUDI&model=A3&min_pr=&max_pr=10000&max_mileage=
Stew
Hmmmmm, many things to go for. If you want to buy then an s4 (old style) would do the job, as mentioned 2.7 bi-turbo so can shift and four wheel drive too. Very stealthy. You could see if any A6 4.2 quattros are available, I don't think they are too ostentatious... Either that or Subaru Legacy. They are ace cars (try one) and go like stink in the right guise! Wot he said Are you looking for a hatch or bigger? I'd say S4 all the way (but be prepared to change the chrome mirrors), or maybe an E39 535/540i if you want some oversteer. No one does understated like Audi. S3, R32 or your suggested Clio's for hatches, although the MkV GTi may be more understated. From Audi the 3.2 A3 Quattro would fit the bill, preferably with DSG. http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/ww ... x_mileage= = By the way, I think the Q car tags originates from war ships disguised as local fishing boats to avoid attention

It looks poverty spec almost from oustide. The fact that its a local car is appreciated too.

MrLizard
a3 3.2 quattro although hardly any quicker than the 2.0lt T does if you choose the flappy paddles includes launch control which works really well on it

Better to get the 2l and get it Revo'd
rtbiscuit
The S3 is the better option, its a golf with a 2 litre turbo engine, but the styling is bland, perfect stealth sleeper. and because its turbo'd it won't be difficult to boost the power even more. On a different tangent for something more oversteery how about a BMW 1 Series Sport? 1 Series are a bit more common these days so should blend in.
