Ebized
Mine arrived today - £400 Instead of buying a new UK car in 2006, from what I have learnt on here I should have bought a 2002/2003 ZED (with the right mods), saved a whole lot of dosh then and be quids in at the moment on the tax front. I hate hindsight

neo
changes come into effect from april 2009, am so looking forward to go from £210 to £440 for the year
Rob_Quads
Mine will go up to 440 next year and mine is the first month of the new rate...solution. Buy tax a month early. Means I have wasted 1 months worth of tax BUT it means I save on the next 11 months
Adriank
Mine was £210 aswell, just had it done in september for the year. Can we cancel it, get refund and retax for the year just before it goes up?
Pingu2
apparently they have covered the loophole of declaring sorn and then retaxing it just before the increase..
Jotun
When mine was taxed in september (when i got it) it was only £185, which i didnt understand as it is a 54 plate and my 53 plate mazda which i had before produced less CO2 but was £

larsdowg
Mine ended Jan next year so cashed it it last month........ then bought a new one at £200 odd instead of £300 odd next year.... and will renew this time next year for £300 odd instead of paying the £450 the following year! it will catch up with me but saved few hundred quid by just being bit cheeky
scottsoulby
i think all the price increases happen in the new financial year, april, so you prob would of been ok to renew it in jan, well thats what im hoping anyway

Cara
It's been announced that the Government IS delaying the change in the car tax rules, to help with the current economic climate. I haven't heard the exact details yet - who it applies to, how long a delay, etc - but will be interesting to find out.
rtbiscuit
it would be nice of them to say they would scrap it all together, and reverse what they have already done. fat chance of that happening
