mc
with the recent cold weather there's been a bit of ice on the windows some mornings... I'm wondering what people do if they try to open the door and the window wont drop cos its frozen solid? will it cause damage to the window or motor? its not a problem when my car is tucked up in the garage but i'm stuck in a hotel at the moment! cheers Mike
Trev-the-Rev
There was a thread about this only the other day. The general concensus was to pour luke warm water over the top of the window iirc.
M350ZB
To be honest never really thought about this, as never really used it when its been all frozen up. Suppose de-ice the windows and wait .................. Be intresting to hear peoples response's !
stanski
Always hated electric windows this time of year - never used to open them until the car had defrosted - which can be a pain! could be worse some of the early Audi TT's used to open their windows at 03:00am in the morning for no reason! ha ha ha

Chris`I
I pour luke warm water around edge of the window. Always does the trick for me Dont using boiling water whatever you do, dont want any cracked windows!
xStric9x
Never been a great fan of de-icer as the chemicals in it are not to kind to your rubber seals.
Adriank
Hmm not thought about this till you mentioned it! Its been fairly hard frost last couple of nights and not had any trouble, but it will get a lot colder yet! I just scrape normally, not a fan of chemicals or hot water myself, hope this isnt a big winter issue!
SunsetZed
I haven't used chemicals due to the potential seal damage or hot water because of cracks but cold water worked fine on my windows the other da when there was frozen snow on my car. It worked on the mirrors as well which were frozen closed!
