Anyone got an ideas for my exhaust problem?

I've recently replaced my old Nismo system with a brand new one. As you can see, the right tailpipe is shifted over too far to the right and is touching the rear valance on the right side and the left side is hung down slightly too much.

Been to three different exhaust places now and they all say the exhaust is mounted fine and that it's just the way the exhaust is made, but I had a Nismo on before the new one which was absolutely spot-on mm perfect and surely they're all made the same way in the same factory?

Any suggestions? Anything I might be missing here? :headhurt::surrender:

This is a Nismo too. When you measure up the tailpipes to the rear valance it actually looks like the right tailpipe is slightly pointed outwards more than the left one, but surely if they're all made the same this can't be possible?

always found that the Nismo isn't truely square anyway but not as mush as yours is demonstrating

Thing is my old Nismo was 100% spot on, perfect gap around all sides of the tailpips. But this one is all wonky. :headhurt:

have you reversed into anything like a soft grass bank (Digsy Style :teeth: ) and possibly bent one of the pipes

LOL nah, it was like this when it was first fitted. Pipework is all brand new.

Was expecting it just to be worn rubbers but unfortunately it's not as that made no difference at all.

Who fitted the first one?

I've heard of Nismos being off and having to give the mounts a bit of stick to get it striaght. Quite common if you give it a search. I'm guessing whoever fit the first one did this and thats why it was straight.

No idea who fitted the first one, it was on the car along with the bodykit when I bought it.

I don't know what you mean by giving the mounts a bit of stick? You mean the rubber hangers? There's not a lot you can do with them really as they're just rubber?

No, sorry should have explained more. From what I understand there are metal hangers on the exhaust. They need a bit of tweaking (bending) to make it all line up properly  TBH any good exhaust place should know that!

Git!

Actually my Nismo was wonky when first fitted but a bit of banging around with a mallet and tinkering by the by the fitter sorted it out. It shouldn't be impossible to fix.

Chris's idea worked for me...

But id reccommend spending a bit more getting a good company to re adjust it. I know Abbey not answering their calls at mo.. Fridays not best day to do this.. but leave message and call them sat morning or monday.

In meantime just stick a bit of sticky sided rubber / padded seal (heat resistant preferably) from halfrauds on bottom on ur vallence to stop the noise when exhuast hits

Reckon it's that easy? I'm suprised nobody at any of the exhaust places I've been so far have suggested that, maybe they don't want the hassle or something. I'm guessing you mean the metal hangers on the backbox/exhaust itself yeah?

Might need heating first.

I think they are just being lazy and dont want the hassle if they hit it too hard and break it. Bit of persuasion should get the metal 'prongs' to move and its just trial and error to move it in the right direction.

I think I'm going to take it to a local respected tuning comapny (even though they specialise in Skylines) and seeing if they can have a go as they're probably going to be more confident in messing around with it than a local exhaust fitters.

Just had another peek under the car and on the right side (the side that the pipe is touching my valance) there is a kind of metal plate that the rubber hanger is bolted onto, do you reckon if that could somehow be bashed over to the left a bit that'd pull the exhaust over, or would the rubbers just bend over to the right?

Apologies if I've missed it but who fitted it for you?

ESR, but in their defence we were all convinced it was the rubber mounts causing the problem.
