P15UL T
it is often said that the Zeds engine can handle up to 400bhp but is this at the wheels or the flywheel as i know these vary quite a lot ? Paul
Trev-the-Rev
I would have thought at the fly because if it was at the wheels then you'd be looking at a flywheel output somewhere in the region of 440bhp.
Stew
Best people to quiz on this are Alex and Dorian for running in the UK.
Chris`I
I think its at the fly too, but best ask those that know.
GIXXERUK
at the fly imo otherwise peeps wouldnt say the engine is good for 400bhp as it would need to be more due to drivetrain loss

bobby
Flywheel I would go different on the general opinion...i would say the Z can handle 380-400 @ wheels.... the flywheel power cant be accurately calculated unless you are running it on a testbench at a factory.... normal dynos measure power @ wheels and convert it back to flywheel output by factoring in transmission losses.. so why go to all that hassle when you know the Z can handle 380-400 @ the wheels comfortably...which is what makes the car perform in the real world anyway!!! the question is not how much power you can push into the Z...its how the power is pushed...the character of the torque coming in while on boost is the key to your engine lasting or ...............you know.... 380-400 is the avg safe power that has been reliably pushed out so far... bobby
Adam@Z1auto.com
Paul - at the wheels, but remember, power seems to be one of those often argued terms on the web Here in the states, approx. 400 whp on a Dynojet, for example, is very often seen, from a stock bottom end, from a variety of forced induction kits. How that translates to your local dyno though is the variable of course. Kits like the Power Enterprise, Turbonetics, APS, Vortech, etc are all designed in their base form, for stock engines - power can of course go up on each one with the right supporting mods, etc etc.
ZMANALEX
The Zed engine is only good for 400 U.K bhp at the fly. But remember that it is the torque that will do the most potential damage.
