spursmaddave
Great post thanks but after reading all the threads and doing various searches I'm still unsure as to whether the existing built in sat nav voice would still work with a new head unit, any help or advice gratefully received. Cheers Mike It can be done, have a good search and you will find some posts showing wiring details etc To be honest if you are going to get a new head unit I would either get one with satnav built in or just replace the birdview with a better nav or tablet
lovie
Hello Spursmadave, Thanks for the very quick reply. The main prob with new head unit with built in nav is it costs two or three times the price of a non nav unit. Bit of a pain when i like the birds eye view presently installed. I will research again and look for wiring diagrams. I plan to get installation done proffesionally (don`t fancy the inevitable fire if I did it) so I'm not sure if i pro would cut into harnesses / solder new wires etc. All I really want is existing nav, great quality cd/mp3, and to get the people at Nissan / Bose who thought this stereo was good idea in room so I can poke knitting needles in their ears Kind regards. dmallett
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/cel-ais ... o-rca.html Anyone ever used this? Not really sure if it right, its the only one i can find. I just want the bose system to work with aftermarket head unit, not worried about the steering wheel etc.
Bobbyheinz
Hey guys, silly question but I really am clueless when it comes to things like this. My Zed is an 07 but a DE, late registered I found this kit with fascia and loom but it states 07 onwards http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2ec4a11b14 This one states 03-06 http://www.ebay.co.u...=item51a60ebfb1 What's confusing me is that while I understand the engines changed between 06 and 07 models, I didn't think the interiors did? Ie there is a prefacelift interior/stereo and then a facelift. Therefore I'd expect the options to be 03-05 and then 06+ Could someone help me out and confirm which of the above 2 I would need. Thanks in advance! Edited January 1, 2013 by Bobbyheinz

Keenobi
Bought my kit from that seller and it works perfectly, they do a pack that includes the facia adaper as well if you needed one.

Did you have the lowered volume that a lot of people have spoken about in the forum? Did you need to modify the wiring in any way?
Keenobi
Have had no issues, volume is still plenty loud enough and still increases decreases depending on ambient noise. Kit is pretty much plug and play all you need to do is splice in the ground wire to the stereo harness ground and run that to the chasis, i followed the superguide by AFTERSHOX http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/56481-kenwood-ddx-4028bt-rear-cam-install-%e2%80%93-superguide/ it is straight forward if you have ever changed a stereo before and the guide makes it pretty easy if you haven't. Darren350
Guys, if replacing the Bose HU what does my new HU need? Just the 1 pre out? I plan to replace the HU in the next few months so am looking for a decent replacement. Obviously I will need the Pac Roem jibby jobby and a proper auto electrician to install the thing but would like to get an idea of what the new HU needs on the back. Don't plan to keep the steering controls as more often than not I forget they are there and just use the knob, haha Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

Darren350
Anyone? lol Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk It's only 5 pages, just read the thread I like your style! So it seems I do have to buy a head unit with a high volt pre out, assuming 4V is the highest (1-4). But would I still need a booster even with a 4V pre out or would the head unit be enough? BulletMagnet
Certain headunits need it, some don't. When I installed my Pioneer first time round, I needed boosters. Which I removed when I installed an amp.
jjt
If it helps, my JVC AVX-640 didn't; I researched before buying and found that it had in built switchable amplification (Off - Low - High)

There is a blue wire labeled "remote amp on" but nowhere to put it. Any help?? if you have the OEM amp, then that blue wire needs to connect to it to turn it on.If you have an aftermarket amp, then there is a connector on it saying "remote on" to which this wire needs to connect to to turn it on Hope this helps OEM amp is in the boot, left hand side under the foam bits
matt1il
I'm looking at upgrading to a Sony XAV-601. Have got this kit for it: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351004388348?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 My question is has anyone ever got Halfords to do the job? I know all he negatives said about them but I doubt I'll be able to do this as I'm not electronically minded. The unit is on a deal there and they charge £30 fitting... To me that sounds like a good price when looking at the guides on here
