martinmac Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Just braved the weather to attend this in Grange in aid of the Air Ambuance. Respect to the owners who have lovingly prepared their cars for this. Some lovely cars. Quote
Trev-the-Rev Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Some lovely old motors there, Martin. I personally like the Escorts. Quote

nixy Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 orange escort my favourite. there was one at TOTB the other week same colour. Quote
WoREoD Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Was the Escort a Mexico or a RS1600? I had a RS1600 but I thought they only came in white..... I'd almost forgotten about the RS2000 nose! Nice car.... Quote
GIXXERUK Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 mk1 mexico, mk2 rs2000 custom with fishnet headrests on the recaro's Quote
WoREoD Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 So the Mexico wasn't a "proper" B49 bodyshell then!! Quote
GIXXERUK Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 the mexico was just an escort with a 1600 cross flow with twin webers most people fitted an a2 road rally cam to improve performance and some fitted twin 40's induction kits have nothing on twin 40's sucking in air the rs1600 had the bda engine Quote
WoREoD Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 ahh but the mexico had the same slightly flared archs as the RS1600, but it was only the RS1600 and the preceding TwinCam that has the heavy duty B49 bodyshell that the works cars used....... And the BDA engine's were put together in the old Vincent motorcycle works in Stevenage, where I lived at the time..... My RS1600 was BB49KY42256! Its the *only* car that I still regret selling.... GIXXERUK Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 love the mk1 and mk2 the mk2 rs1800 had the bda aswell, i didnt know vincent built them , the black shadow was iconic in its day Quote
bronzee Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Lovely old cars there. What's that funny bright blue bubble in the 2nd photo?? Not seen one of those before, well that I remember. Quote

Trev-the-Rev Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Used to run my Mk2 Escort with a 2.1 Pinto on 45s. And my old Brabham BT 29 ran on slide injection with 2.5 inch trumpets complete with tea strainers on the top to prevent the wildlife getting sucked in. Quote
Trev-the-Rev Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I wish I had. It's one of those things you regret not taking more photos of when you had the chance. I owned the car back in the mid 70s and have only one pic of it in negative format. Quote
nixy Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I know what you mean - I never used to take photos of my cars - wish I had one of my mk2 golf gti. On the other hand I'm glad there are no photos of me when I was going through my early 80's punk/goth stage........ Quote
