kingbiscuit
On monday my engine management light, Slip light and TCS light all came on. I reset the ECU. It came on again in the afternoon. Reset Again. Reset again Reset again.... Tuesday the car was fine but wednesday the lights were back on. I have left them on since because I'm taking the car into nissan on saturday to have some other work done on it and I wanted them to see the lights (didnt know if it was gonna be logged) and run their diagnostics. Today though, in traffic. I started hearing (and feeling) a slight knocking noise through my clutch pedal when sitting at traffic lights. Floowed by my car spluttering and what felt like the clutch slipping. I thought I wasnt gonna make it home. But when I went out to the car 30mins after being in the house to show my bro, the problem had gone. Do you think that the warning lights are because of the clutch being on its last legs? and did the clutch simply overheat in the traffic? Also, it may be just the fuel pump but I have never noticed it before. There is a strange sound coming from the drivers side rear. It sounds like someone is using a spray paint can or something. Little short bursts. Shhh, sh, shh, shhhhh. It probably is the fuel pump but I have a full tank and I'm sure I've never heard anythying like that before. Toon Chris
Yes that sounds like the fuel pump has a problem (could be blocked, not knackered). It should make a constant whine.
GIXXERUK
Yes that sounds like the fuel pump has a problem (could be blocked, not knackered). It should make a constant whine. usually the fuel filter needing changing that is putting the pump under stress
Beavis
Going back to the first issue with the re-setting of the lights, the zed is known to do strange things if the battery is not in top nick.

kingbiscuit
Update: Right, I dont think it has anything to do with the clutch. The car is stuttering and misfiring at idle now. There is a put, put, put sound from the exhaust too. Seems to run a lot smoother once I get the revs up though. Would air in my fuel line cause this or is it could be an ECU issue? Car is booked into Nissan tomorrow for diagnostics anyway. Trouble is, I have a 10mile journey to get there. Do I risk it?
Zummertor
Only you can tell that, if you have AA / RAC cover then of course you should. I do wonder if you should check battery first as the problem seems inconsistent but potentially linked to items that have electronics involved. kingbiscuit
Update: Right, Nissan are a bunch of tards. I took the car in on saturday for diagnostics. The guy said that he didnt know what was wrong with it because the code showing was unrecognisable to him as it was a japanese import. He said he would have to get on to Nissan head office to get it decoded on Monday. Monday came and they told me that they still cant recognise the code, nobody in the UK has EVER had a problem with that code before and they basically dont know how to fix the car. Lame asses. To cut a long story short. I phone Dan at advanced motorsport explain the code to him. He tells me its a probably an ignition coil problem. I get the car taken down to Dan in milton keynes. Dan spends 15 minutes fitting a new Ignition coil. Car works fine. The moral of the story is. Dont trust Nissan dealers. They have no real knowledge of Zeds or the basics of mechanics. They just service micras. After this debacle it's just confirmed to me that a full dealer service history isnt worth anything. I used to get worried about not using a dealer for services and how it would affect the resale value of my cars. But now I think I will be going to performance specialists for my servicing.
