SAFC99
Whats the best way of getting rust out of stone chips before touching them up?
Trev-the-Rev
I tend to just scrape it out with a small screwdriver. You can also get some paint on stuff that is supposed to kill the rust through a chemical reaction.
H5
Meguiars do a detailing brush with different stiffness brushes around it. I'd start with one of those then put some Kurust into the chip.
stanski
if its recent and you can scrape it clean then fine but if it looks like its been there a while you will need to tackle it sooner rather than later as it will get under the good paint and you end up with a larger problem! You can use things like Jenolite - which converts rust from Iron2 to Iron 3 organic compound I remember from soemwhere?? Or use Metal Ready rust remover - which is a phosphor based liquid - you just dab a bit and it eats the rust off - then wash off with water - dry with tissue and off you go - worked for me for years, http://auto.frost.co.uk/frost/Metal%20Ready
rmmackfc
I used Krust, seems to have worked
smartmove
+1 for Jenolite, always used this in stonechips and never had to re-do the chip whereas with Kurust its not completely killed the rust.
Chris`I
I used Krust, seems to have worked +1 - worked on mine too. Although I did scrape out most of the rust first. Doesnt seem to have come back - yet
Ebized
+1 for Jenolite, always used this in stonechips and never had to re-do the chip whereas with Kurust its not completely killed the rust. +2 - brings back memories of the good old rust bucket days when I had cars that had more rust than sound metal
