Trev-the-Rev
A mate of mine had one of these and apart from the fuel consumption (17 mpg average) is was an extremely quick and good handling car. And as for the sound from that V8

S1 HNK
awesome machine!! i remember the old press ad for the original RS2, with the slogan " my other cars a porsche but today im in a hurry"
funkymofo
I will own one of these in my lifetime! 530bhp is what most claim with just an ehaust and re-map. They dont handle though - at all!

That's not my experience of them. I accept they're a big old bus and not exactly agile through the tight and twisties, but I found them to be very well planted through fast sweepers and overall very stable. What about the saloons and not the estates?
funkymofo
I know someone who had one (saloon) and he said it was rubbish and just understeered everywhere. This would support your statement of them feeling very planted at high speed though I suppose. The understeer is probably nothing a set of uprated ARB's wouldnt sort out though. They arent built for twisties though as already stated, pretty much one of the best long distance cruisers going IMO. It is worth noting that I have never driven one, so my opinion is only based on what I have heard from those who have!
Cool Hand Luke
The brand new RS6 is even quicker again What about an M5 touring?
leon britton
My six eggs would be a stunning car ,my missus owns s4 cab and it ticks all the boxes. I remember turning up at a track day a while ago there was an older guy there with the avant ,he told me his missus hated him doing track days and to grow up and get something they all could go out in including the dog.He swaps his road wheels for track day owns (which he can easily fit tin the huge boot ) then he goes out with the biggest grin on his face you ever have seen and whoops every one there (made me smile)

S1 HNK
its alot of horsepower but it does weigh in at over 2.5 tonnes which does put a pretty big dent on all that power. i think they look very cool, but 80k for an estate...you gotta be crazy or really love your dogs!
