Digsy
Ok, lets preface this by saying that I'm an IT numpty. I've got an ipod and have itunes installed on my work laptop with all my stuff on. So far, so good. We've bought Mrs Digsy's dad a nano for Father's Day and we wanted to put some music he might like on it. I figure that if I hook it up to the work laptop it'll try and download all my music until its full, so that's no good. Now I've got an old laptop which I keep downstairs and just use to access the net. So I come up with the clever idea of downloading itunes on to it and popping a couple of albums on then dowloading on to the nano. However, halfway through the instal it throws up an error to say it can't access mypictures on the work laptop. First, I can't understand why it would need to access mypictures and, second, why it would want to access the other laptop???? I allowed sharing of the mypictures folder on the work laptop but it still kept throwing up the message. I then disabled the wireless card in the hope that it wouldn't think it was part of a network but no joy. I'm getting pee'd off now. Can anyone help or offer an alternative solution? nixy
I'm not sure why plan A didn't work. I have a video ipod which holds 30g and my son has a nano which holds a lot less. When he first got it I just unticked the music in itunes which I knew he wouldn't want (and wouldn't fit anyway) selected to only sync checked items, plugged his ipod in and downloaded my stuff onto his ipod. No problem. Since then we have installed itunes onto his own log in on the computer and we now run them separately. Not sure why that didn't work for you. Beavis
You should be able to create another library on the Laptop you normally use Digsy for itunes. For example i have an ipod that is named "Davids Ipod" and Ryan as one named "Ryans Ipod". So basically you have two accounts with separate music library's. Not totally sure myself as Ryan is the IT specialist when it comes to this type of thing
