Ticking noise

Hi all

Hoping someone may be able to help. Its a 2005 350 roadster 80,000miles, regular oil changes. A ticking sound has started to become annoying and I can't quite put my finger on the culprit. It rises with revs but don't think its internal

If I put my finger on the round object I feel a pulse as though it could be this. Is it a diaphragm of some kind? It located at the rear centre of the engine bay. There is another to the left rear also but this does not feel like the other with no pulse. 

Can anyone shed some light on what the object is and the ticking. Many thanks

I believe that's one of the fuel dampers. Common issue for those to tick. Generally not an issue as far as I know, but it can cause an annoying sound. You could nab one and replace it easily enough.

Thanks Ben350 and all those that may of had to endure the anxiety associated with will it go bang. I now feel that is the annoying little B%$!&rd. I think a new one immanent.

Weeks after getting my 2005 Z 1i had an annoying ticking. My fuel dampener also ticked & was convinced it was that. I was ready to order one. I just pressed down on each of the ignition coils on the drivers side (not sure why, i was just messing about) & found the noise went. My issue was x1 spark plug not quite tight enough. My ticking also went up with the revs.
