rozzabee Posted Monday at 19:21 Share Posted Monday at 19:21 Hi everyone quick question - my car has LED rear signal lights. Now when I put the rear fog light on it illuminates the rear LEDs and main lights as seen in the photo. When I press the brakes with the rear fogs on, not much seems to happen to the lights, they might get a bit brighter. It's hard to tell though. I guess the brakes being on/off is not obvious enough as it was an MOT Fail annoyingly, but I can see why. Just wondering where the hell to start with sorting this as electronics aren't my forte. I did buy some standard rear quarter lights if it's a case of taking the LEDs out and putting the OEM back in. However I thought I'd check to see if there is maybe a simple fix to this where I can keep the LEDs in. Thanks in advance!
Stewal
Looking at your picture I guess someone has deleted the reverse light in the bumper and made it a second fog light? I would look at how that has been done and maybe disconnect to see if it changes anything. Leds in fittings not designed for them can create all kind of funnies. Maybe revert to standard bulbs to see if the problem goes away. I do find you get what you pay for with leds. I only have them for the front sidelights and used Philips units which have been no trouble.
rozzabee
Hey Stewal, thanks for the input. I managed to sort the issue out thankfully! The PO had wired the brakes to come on with the fog light for some reason, so when I pressed the brakes, nothing happened as they were already illuminated. It was a weird choice, but it's fixed now I actually ended up doing what you suggested and got some second-hand OEM bumper lights as I didn't want to faff around with someone else's wiring.
