Sib
Hi guys, I'm new here. I am having a very difficult time deciding between a GT4 edition 350Z '05 (Rev-up) in Ultra Yellow with factory Nismo body kit. & An AP1/2 S2000, both have around 100k miles and both cost the same (around £10k). What's attracted me to the 350Z is it being a special edition, 1/76 and very few had this kit. Also a massive Gran Turismo fan. However, the oil burning is concerning me, does it degrade the engine overtime and will eventually require a rebuild? The S2000 on the other hand is more reliable and is already becoming a collectable. Also I feel it'll be more fun to drive (could be wrong, not been in a 350z before) but it'll be another S2000, not an ultra rare edition. I am ultimately looking for a car that best balances future value, fun to drive & won't become a headache to run/maintain. Which should I go with, advice from past or present owners would be greatly appreciated. I hope this post isn't duplicated.
Ekona
Not even close, get the S2K. As long as you fit, it’s a much better car to drive.
MONKEYSOCKS
I have a black gt4, don't have any oil issues. Just depends how it's been driven.
GranTurismoEra
My brother almost bought final edition white years ago. Id get the 350Z personally. S2000 is nice but you need to know what youre doing if pushing it.
Keith D
MY nephew had an S2000 for a while and when I drove it I was disappointed. Unless you are continually reving the nuts out of it I found it felt quite gutless.

Even then it's reliant on you selling at the right time which may or may not be when you're ready to sell. 19 hours ago, Sib said: fun to drive They are two very different cars to drive. Have a go in both and see what works best for you. 19 hours ago, Sib said: won't become a headache to run/maintain. That's depend very much on the individual cars. Do your research on both - don't just assume generalisations will apply to either (common issues are common, not guaranteed) but do consider the risk if you're not able to confirm.
StormtrooperZ
Like comparing apples and oranges this! 2 totally different cars, zed is a cruiser/bruiser with plenty power, s2k is more agile/nimble and a convertible that you need to drive hard to have fun in! 1

SWoMP
I did choose (in 2005). Got the GT4 and still have it 19 years and 116k miles later. No contest.
Sib
Thank you all for the advice guys, I went to see the 171/176 today but sadly it was in a very poor state so I won't be going with it. It's a massive shame, I can't believe someone could treat such a special car this way but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Gonna try out an S2000 and hope it's the one.

The last person to own it took care of the engine & gearbox but nothing else. The wheel arches had signs of massive yellow overspray. There were bits falling off, the door skid plate was missing (guy said he hadn't had a chance to glue it back on. I found the indicator cover in the centre console, he said it had fallen off and needed gluing. The thrust bearing was squeaking, every panel on the car was a different shade of yellow, metallic flake the paint was known for was long gone. In his words the infotainment fitted was crap. It had semi slicks on the rears. It was Birmingham edition more than gran turismo edition by the state it was in. It will cost thousands to put it right. Which at that price, I can't afford to do within my budget. 😭
